Out of touch - congrats you've made POE 1.5

Elden Ring was a huge success, even though it is legitimate Soulsborne difficulty. Its DLC expansion was also successful.
Elden had various gameplay options for making the game easier for most gamers. These easy mode options included NPC summons, cooperative multiplayer, more powerful character builds, overpowered weapons/spells/items, & 1 location for easy farming of souls/points for easy level ups with upgrades. We also have lots of free Internet guides & walkthrough videos. Path of Exile 2 should learn from Elden Ring: create fundamental gameplay that is more challenging, but give players various options for easy mode. Then PoE2 will sell well for higher skilled players & more casual players. The easy mode weapons/items should have warnings (like a red label) about using them. This way the higher skilled players will know not to use them, & the casual players will know to spam them. |

" This is all true, but I don't think it would work in PoE2 because PoE2 is a competitive/cooperative resource farming and trading game. People will take advantage of the EZ mode items and wreck the economy. They had no hesitation doing so with the Temple. Attempts to play clean/more challenging or refusal to use them will put you at a disadvantage to all those that do and simply result in you having to spend more time to achieve the same build progress that others get faster. This is already the case with a few items like the loathsome Headhunter belt anyway. It works in Elden Ring because you're not really affected in any way by how others choose to play the game. This game is too far down the road of slop for them to turn back now, and I don't think they intend to anyway. Last edited by Skutz123#5377 on May 11, 2026, 12:34:59 AM

" No. I want to play PoE in shape it is now, NOT in shape ypu would like to be. Go play Smash Bros if u want more smash bros mechanics. |

" The easy mode stuff in Elden Ring actually wrecked the competitive multiplayer in many ways. Invaders usually had a huge disadvantage against the host with coop teammates. FromSoftware refuses to patch the game for balanced multiplayer. Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin had the best multiplayer, because the game was patched many times for balance. I think PoE2 should have multiplayer options to allow each gamer to decide if he wants to play with gamers who use easy mode stuff or who play hard mode. For example, if a gamer collects an easy mode item & he wants to play with hard mode gamers, then he has to permanently sell that easy mode item to an NPC or real gamer, or he has to put that item in a special storage container that cannot be accessed during multiplayer. As of 2026 May, PoE is in patch 0.5, which might be interpreted as 50% done. I know GGG wants to finish the game by 2026, but GGG previously wanted to finish the base game in 2025. GGG previously said the full release of the base game would have 12 character classes. GGG then changed its plan & said patch 1.0 (the full release of the base game) might only have 10/12 classes. Then the first DLC might add the last 2 classes, & this DLC should release in 2027. This means the real full release of the base game will be in early 2027. Haha. I think GGG should take its time with fixing & improving PoE2, even if this means major delays, instead of exaggerating their progress, announcing optimistic plans, then changing the schedule, & then repeating this process. GGG also said PoE2 would receive lots of DLCs for many years like PoE1. GGG said major DLCs would be added for both PoE1 & PoE2, because these 2 games were designed for different gamers. PoE1 was for the more Diablo-like game, but PoE2 was for blending Diablo & Soulsborne. PoE1 debuted in 2013 October, & the game still gets major DLC expansions, which means 13 years of big DLCs. This means PoE2 will have many years of development & large DLCs, sort of like PoE1, or World of Warcraft & its many years of huge DLC expansions. In other words, GGG will have many years to improve & fix PoE2. Of course, the actual patches for PoE2 trend toward Diablo & away from Soulsborne, but PoE2 should have many years to reverse these trends, but this requires GGG to have the ambition & intelligence to create a more creative & skill-based game. So far, GGG lacks this ambition & intelligence. Long story short: The optimist in me tells me GGG has many years to fix & improve PoE2. The real results have revealed GGG is degrading PoE2 into another Diablo-like game with very little Soulsborne influence. |

" It's funny, because I'm the exact opposite. 8000+ hours in PoE and ~200 in PoE 2. My most hated game.
My most favorite game. Such is the duality of man. |

" Dunno, I like PvP in Elden Ring, particularly the duels even though I'm not great at them, but I think PvP was just a nice bonus in the game, an afterthought tacked on because why not? As much as people cry on forums about the meta pvp weapons or builds, there's ways to counter all of them...and its very easy to respec or switch weapons/ashes. The core of the game is it's PvE experience anyway and I would not have wanted them to devote any more to balancing PvP at the expense of PvE. Is it a perfectly balanced game, no, but considering all the possibilities and interactions I think they did an amazing job at general balance overall, and making the game accessible to varied skill levels. Funny how many people still act like it's an incredibly difficult game. You can win it with pretty much any build, and you can make it as tough as you want it to be, and you can scale down the difficulty to a degree with the tools provided (mimic, certain weapons, co-op etc.) Fun to debate but don't think its that relevant to PoE2 anymore. This game is too far down the road of being something totally different, and I don't think they actually care that much about respective class/ascendency/skill balance, so I don't share your optimism. Would be nice if I'm wrong though. |

" Yeah, high probability you are correct. Based on the actual game, PoE2 is like 99% Diablo/PoE1 & 1% Soulsborne. I don't really expect major changes in fundamental gameplay from patch 0.5 to patch 1.0 to the first few DLC expansions. The zoom zoom gameplay with flat map designs represent nearly all of the current game. However, we have an itty bitty tiny window of chance, because GGG will probably release lots of patches & DLC expansions for PoE2 through at least 10 years. PoE1 debuted in 2013 & still receives smaller to bigger updates. 10 years is a long time for a video game. That duration is long enough to remake or add revolutionary changes to the game at least twice. The much better probability is waiting for No Rest for the Wicked, but that game in development has too many copycat features with easy mode features, because lots of early access gamers are whining about the game's difficulty. Maybe FromSoftware will release its own hybrid blend of Diablo & Soulsborne. Maybe another video game company will see the creativity in creating such a video game that balances Diablo with Soulsborne. |

The fact that they will be jumping from 0.5 to 1 .. I believe this year, correct? ... gives me 0 hope that this game has any chance of turning around. Besides that, it shows full signs of the opposite patch after patch.
Actually, saying "signs" is understating it. They're not signs, it's just there. I'm honestly more interested to see what NRFTW will do with their 1.0 release and can't wait for that. I promised a friend of mine I'll be waiting for full launch to play with him because he hates EA, otherwise I'd totally be there playing already. Regardless... what happened to PoE 2 still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. "Sigh" Last edited by IonSugeRau1#1069 on May 12, 2026, 1:45:08 AM
