Out of touch - congrats you've made POE 1.5
" Oh god.. I don't think I have the stomach for HIM "Sigh"

I remember the very first release stream and looking back on it, right now the entire concept has shifted away from it towards the traditional gameplay. I experience this a lot in my creative/professional work - I decide to break the flow, change the fundamentals to only then find myself sticking to the old ways because work needs to be done and I already have the formula. This is so, so very familiar.

Wasn't the case that it was supposed to be an addition to POE1 originally? I thought people were dissapointed at the time when they announced it was going to be a separate game that they would have to wait longer for.
So is it the POE1 fans or the POE1 haters that are annoyed it is similar? |
" poe2 tourists aka poe1 haters made a world in their head that this game would be a soulslike and now are mad poe2 is an arpg at heart :) the sooner they leave the better! |
" sad, but poe2 is not arpg, its survivors-arcade currency-clicker nowadays. |
Its classic hack and slash. There is no "role play" in it at all.
" lol yeah I'm not sure why they are so dead set on it being soulslike. I'm not even a POE1 player originally, when I started POE2 with a group of friends none of us cared if it was soulslike or not we just liked the look of it. |
" Yep, and a lot of them sure defend that very vehemently. The addiction is strong. Just watch them constantly lying and gaslighting with impunity. It's so incredibly tiring. I hear the same tired lines all the time. "Sigh"

" even from todays spirit walker showcase its pretty clear what direction the game is going. either accept it or move on... |
" I don't think it's the people asking for meaningful combat, or more directly not 1 click screenwipe brainless PoE1 style gameplay, who keep bringing up the term soulslike, and I don't see anyone saying it needs to be isometric Elden Ring. The people most often bringing up the 'soulslike' term are the adorable Facebook grandma/mobile phone game enthusiasts who cry very loudly that PoE2 is too difficult, often saying things like 'I didn't ask for a soulslike', presumably because they hit a >5 minute roadblock at some point and didn't know what to do, never having encountered friction in a game before. I have my doubts that most of these people bringing up the term ever even played a soulslike or Elden Ring, because the games aren't actually that difficult once you spend a few hours playing them. Personally I think it would have been nice if they looked at something like Hades/Hades 2 as a good model for combat/gameplay. |
