they said in all the interviews where they have been asked that they dont want long term player retention and that aiming for it is the wrong model for this game genre. they want people to come, play for a month and then leave.

pub g is a totally different game genre. its like comparing daily customer traffic patterns in a night club vs a fast food restaurant.

Dont forget that players from China are included in steam figures for PoE2, they arent in PoE1.

This is a game, not a religion.

GGG is clearly aware that their game is a "filler time" between game releases. Cant recall that interview, but they mentioned this.
They monitored player activity and seasons are timed between major other game releases.

Lets not forget, this is a F2P game with good microtransaction offers. Yes, we "paid" for EA (you got the microtransaction coins), but its known that at full release this will be the same payment structure as poe1

Man this game is dead before it has its release...even on twitch today PoE1 has more viewers. Nearly three month out and they only done one minor patch and not even a handfull of minor fixes. Even the last "hotfix" with only two changes is over a week old. Many years ago i just take a quick look at PoE1 and just yesterday i download it again and man beside the graphic it is straight up better. With the new event on 20th feb. in PoE1 they kill their own PoE2.
