500k+ to Less than 80k players in just over a month, Impressive.

Man this game is dead before it has its release...even on twitch today PoE1 has more viewers. Nearly three month out and they only done one minor patch and not even a handfull of minor fixes. Even the last "hotfix" with only two changes is over a week old. Many years ago i just take a quick look at PoE1 and just yesterday i download it again and man beside the graphic it is straight up better. With the new event on 20th feb. in PoE1 they kill their own PoE2.

Same here
Well i got stuck at end game with a build that destroyed the campin but then suffered because of garbage rng.
I don't have the currency to trade and getting face rolled teir 4 and 5 maps with a chaos hex build because of my gear is boring so i stopped playing.

Their RNG is trash for most players and for the ones it aint they are steam rolling content with broken build's and have 1000s in currency so they dont need it.

there just aint much fun to be had for me in end game at the current state.

I'll come back when they actually rebalance this mess
RNG isn't really something worth considering, outside of rarity on your player or atlas there's not much you can do about what is dropping. This game is based on drop rates though, and yea RNG plays a key role in that, but you actually have to get items to drop. The players dropping the most loot, ie killing the most monsters, will prosper the most, stronger monsters will get better loot. There's lots of ways to modify that. But the fundamental issue I see is people running a map or two and not getting much and then pontificating and looking for solutions to get what they want instead of just grinding and reaping the benefits from that.

If I want consistent currency and not worrying about items specifically dropping Indo trials of chaos. I got about 20 div yesterday, dropped 2 div in the trial itself as well, and I upgraded my HoWA and added 100k to my DPS. It's not glamorous but it works. Endgame currency farming is a grind though, not too many ways around that.

Also let's not assume gear is the only issue. Before upgrading my gear to its current state I over trippled my DPS just by respecing my passive tree and changing my skill gems around
The game will always have some life to it, even 20k daily is good. But it wont ever be as half good as it could have been, that much is obvious. So many bad development choices.

POE2 Bombed so hard and so fast that if they released a POE1 league right now it would literally kill their own new game, POE2 sitting at less than 80k players now at the daily lows..

Was it worth POE1 dying for this. I dont think so.
Nah. PoE 1 wishes it had the success PoE 2 had and will have in the future. Early access alone generated more income than multiple leagues worth of PoE 1 content. From a business perspective, GGG is winning - and they're not stopping anytime soon.

Imagine the income stream once they drop content patches on both games.

Yep, this is why they released POE2.
The next real patch will come with more $250 supporter packs too!
This game is experiencing performance issues that are driving people away. The constant stuttering and freezing make the game unplayable for many. The game ran fine for the first 3 weeks, as I'm not sure what happened.
Didnt they make over 15 million dollars for early access sales?

That considered a failure?

considering the PoE1 yearly revenue was between $50-60 millions and they sacrificed basically whole year of PoE1 revenue at this point to push out a game they already spent SEVEN years on ...

if they only made measly $15 mil on this then yes that would be COLOSSAL failure

but no the estimated sales are around 1.5 milion EA packs which at $30 a pop comes around $45mil + some extra sales of supporter packs, stash tabs etc should bring them slightly above theyr normal yearly revenue ... which is STILL bad considering again they spent years putting this together and not 3-4 months per PoE1 league as a dev cycle

meanwhile they lost again 26k from the peak Sunday concurrents in just single week continuing the +-20% loss rate weekly trend they are on ...

Fwiw, the last two years were between $83-84 million (with one less league last year), and the two before that during the height of Covid were $104 million for 2021 and $116 for 2020.

And even if they hadn't delayed the PoE1 league, the yearly Core packs were coming either way.
