500k+ to Less than 80k players in just over a month, Impressive.
" you are comparing here brand new game 2 months after release vs 10 year old game league that is supposed to last 3 moths each that did NOT get sayd league update since July ... if your whole argument is "but we have 5x the players" ... yes FOR NOW ... at current rate of bleed at 20% each week you will hit those lows within next month two tops ... and as for Trouncing the PoE1... we will see how many players will return for 0.2 AND how many will make it past week 1 ... THAT will tell us truly about sustainable potential of the project when compared to PoE1 that was GROWING the numbers each league for past 2 years before being thrown into a dumpster |

Player numbers on Steam is irrelevant. Player numbers willing to continiously put money into POE2 going forward IS relevant.
At this point we have no idea what this will be. Only time will tell. |

No new things to do in 2 months leads to people leaving...It is what it is...
Happens with every seasonal content... The fact that you chose to believe that they lost players too quickly, I can explain that also, it's because of the hype generated that it will be revolutionary, which to some degree it was, but the fact that they do not release anything new, and just fix bugs it's problematic. Like I explained in a different post, their priority should have never been to fix armour, or some interaction between an amulet and some skill, or to patch fast a build that some streamer is using. This should have been the last priorities that should have been fixed at the end prior to releasing. The focus should have been to bring everything out for testing, test every core interaction and build interaction, test the core end game and stabilize the game. After that and when people count start to decline, start fixing bugs and announce the release if everything is in shape. If not, introduce an EA league and continue testing and fixing. But GGG does it the other way around, they are fixing bugs and interactions, which probably keeps the streamer still playing because his build got fixed, but lose 5k players that are bored of the same things over and over. It's as simple as that. Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.

" That's kinda my point... it's far too early to judge the success or failure of POE2. The only thing that is objectively true, is that it DIDN'T bomb. It provides no commentary on trouncing poe1, because you're right, staying power is what will decide that debate. So yes, we WILL see how many players return, and the reason we'll have to wait and see this in order to determine poe2's success, is because clearly it hasn't bombed. So yeah, copium. Oh and btw, when the next poe1 league comes out and peaks far higher than expected, OP can thank poe2 for that. Cause ain't no way i was playing poe1 before. Now, with 300 hrs in poe2, yeah poe1 doesn't look as intimidating. |

" it wont ... not after almost a year ... sure some will come back but some wont ... broken promises and way too much time will have its price and as i sayd several times in several different threads this feels intentional to me ... like certain someone WANTS the PoE1 to die Last edited by Asghaad#3967 on Feb 14, 2025, 4:22:52 AM

OP doesn't seem to know what a month is.
It's doing pretty well honestly. |

Personally I stopped playing because my video card decided to die when I was in the middle of a map. So I had to RMA the card and don't feel like wasting money on what crap is actually in stock... dunno if anyone has looked at the inventory of gpu's around the US, but it's pretty sad.

" Two year release cycles, AI hype, discontinuing production, and rushed releases will do that. You might have better luck with Radeon if you don't care for Tensor cores. |

Is it possible for a game to “bomb” if it hasn’t even fully released? It’s early access and still in development. Just cause they aren’t releasing updates according to some people’s desired timelines doesn’t mean they are neglecting the game. I’d rather they take whatever time they need to release a well thought out and detailed patch than rush some crud to us to satisfy the children whining in chat lol

" POE2 didn't even release yet... " That's really good for a video game. 80k players is a massive base. And that is in the early access... " Good question. We will see what happens, when the game actually releases. I don't want to play PoE 1 anymore, but I don't really want to play the early access of PoE 2 either. Life is tough. I'd play the PoE 2 SSF Standard right now, but that is not an option! And we don't even know when such a simple option will be available... |
