500k+ to Less than 80k players in just over a month, Impressive.
POE2 Bombed so hard and so fast that if they released a POE1 league right now it would literally kill their own new game, POE2 sitting at less than 80k players now at the daily lows..
Was it worth POE1 dying for this. I dont think so. Last bumped on Feb 20, 2025, 5:39:49 AM

Yes, it is. Most games are down to 4k during same period.
That's how seasonal games work. People play, people leave, people come back. |

" Here is just how impressive it is, POE2 EA lost more people in less time than they would of in a normal league environment. They lost more than 200k players in less than 2 weeks, and another 100k a week later, if i spent 5 yrs and sidelined my main IP on a project to release something that my entire company's future rests on and its doing worse than the last iteration of the old game by any metrics, thats bad. |

They are still working on the game right? I ..I remember there was a guy.. he had glasses. They were European or Australian or something right?
..it's been 83 years.. Console loot filter for POE2 Please!

Not surprising considering the input latency in co-op and the ancient net-code they're using. That's going to turn a lot of players away. The campaign as well is about 20 hours of content. So that only leaves doing maps (in single player most of the time due to the netcode). Trading and rerolling characters. I got a lot of time out of the game. it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination. But definitely the co-op experience is the worse I've seen in this type of game. You have the third person action rpgs such as Souls and Nioh which provide much better online experience. Even Diablo 4 as far as I can remember played pretty smooth in co-op. I'd take the rubber banding over Ttrying to control a character which feels as if they're walking in mud.

OP is the average echo chamber Reddit user. D4 lost 96% of its player base shortly after release. People play the campaign, then stop. Some get k to mapping then stop. This is a natural cycle that all games go through especially in EA.
So I would say PoE2 is doing quite well. |

" LOL ! I wish so much that this is the type of player mindset that GGG has in mind. "D4 only lost 96% of its players base, this_is_fine.jpg" Also this isnt early access this is the release, there isnt going to be some magical version 1.0 official release, this is it. Enjoy as they patch content into it for 10 yrs, if it lasts that long. The only reason GGG survived at all is because they had a small but modest collection of people who came back or even stayed through the entire season and bought packs for the next one, this new generation of carousel gamers aint it. "Nah. PoE 1 wishes it had the success PoE 2 had and will have in the future. Early access alone generated more income than multiple leagues worth of PoE 1 content. From a business perspective, GGG is winning - and they're not stopping anytime soon. Imagine the income stream once they drop content patches on both games. |

" Any numbers behind this or ? Considering at least a third of those 500k people who played are people who had already spent money and were sent a key free like myself. Probably a conservative of around 50k bot accounts, leaves about 150k or so new users who bought into the EA. not that great. Not to mention that they are going to be skipping the THIRD normally scheduled poe1 league in a row soon for more dev time on 2. That is a LOT of missed league packs. Only half of the classes are out, with less than half of the weapon types available.
PoE2 is an RPG, and people who aren't interested in the options available are understandably going to wait for a major update before revisiting. I get that people are upset about PoE1 being temporarily sidelined, but angry posting on the forums isn't going to hasten anything. |
