One death per map is honestly fucking dumb as hell.

What exactly are you talking about. We don't have crafting. We have gambling 100% rng throw currency at garbage items on repeat and maybe get something. You never played poe. They removed everything that was good about crafting in this.

Good thing this isn't poe1 but a different game and that you can easily swim in currency and bases to augment and combine.

I love when people say they like 1 death/map.

Just Self impose the 1 portal per map then? I bet you wont if they do allow 6 portal deaths or more.

These are the same people who Drive a pickup while saying everyone needs to stop driving them for Climate change.
But will not stop driving theirs until everyone else is forced to stop first.

You are hypocrites.

What does 1 death/map benefit the game?

answer: nothing
It is solely a ego stroke to hold over others who don't like it or cant do it.

That is a lot of aggressive text for zero arguments.

One portal is not a ruthless mode or should be. You know, when you hit early maps in PoE1 and first come along the Endgamebosses then you will find out that a shaper beam will oneshot you. You didn't dodge the Eater of Flames? Oneshot. You tried to tank it? Oneshot. Rolled wrong mods on the map? Oneshot.

I like the idea of PoE2 for being way less elitist. You stand in ice at Uber(!)-Version of Expedition-Boss? We will let you for 2-3 seconds but if you need more you really should drink a coffee and try again. You are stuck in the 40% denisity breach on a t15 corrupted map? We will let you live for 3-4 seconds to give you time to find a solution but then you really should have one. There are no unplayable map mods. No oneshots that cannot be explained.

If you make it 6-portals we are back to Poe1. I would be fine with it as I said. But I don't want a crybaby thread again if the ice at the expedition boss kills you again in a fraction of a second because you now have 6 portals and the game is tuned around it.

Your logic is still based around trade. You can do the same exact thing in poe2 I am swimming in currency. Rarity is so broken. We have gambling that is not crafting. SSF has no way of fixing res. I got to maps on day two of release and still do not have capped res. Currently sitting on 1k + of Tran, Augs, 500 Alch 178 regals 197 exalts. Got tired of just random gambling.

It's just the game trying to tell you that dying is bad and that building a solid character is important.

If we wanted to play a game mode where dying is bad, we'd be playing hardcore. How about letting people play for fun. Building a solid character is still something that will happen. People die, waste time respawning and getting back to where they were, progress through content slower, etc. They're still incentivized to improve their build.

First of all, pro tip: If you want GGG to consider your "feedback" then maybe try being polite instead of using language that makes you sound like you are just bitching at and insulting them.

In that spirit, let me say that the one death per map is the only thing I don't like about the new mapping system. It is pretty easy to die in PoE 2, even to normal trash, let alone bosses and rares. Then add lag and high latency issues to the mix.

Yes, death needs to be punishing but having to start over from scratch because you have died to the boss or last rare is IMHO a little too harsh.

Due to RNG some maps end up way harder than others with the same monster level. There have been simple maps I had to try 15 or so times with T1 blank waystones, and having to start from zero every time is frustrating and killing the fun.

That’s good insight. It also sucks and will kill this game’s appeal for 99.9% of players. If you care about death so much play HC. That option exists for masochists.

No, it won't kill the game.. it's gonna purge players like you to either learn to grow to love it or leave.
It's that simple.

I’m not going to grow to love it. It’s stupid. I don’t even die that much that it upsets me but it’s objectively a terrible idea and greatly diminishes the fun, what very little there is to be found right now, of the endgame. I don’t play anymore because the endgame is straight up boring and pointless not because of the pseudo HC difficulty mechanics they added. I might come back and *tolerate* the single death mechanic if they make the game fun but they have a lot of work to do.

I personally disagree. If someone is being an idiot, you call them one. This is straight up a design thought up by an idiot who thinks the fun of playing souls games is the part where you lose all your souls while also playing a no death run. No, the fun and challenge comes from learning the boss and trying to not die as you play around the mechanics. THAT is what makes souls games fun. You learn, you adapt and you win NOT get beaten by a baseball bat and forced to crawl while bleeding out. Its not fun. The Devs who thought this is good game design should be shamed and made to take responsibility for this instead of having yes-men congratulate them for shipping a barely working alpha into early access. The fact that no lessons were learned from Poe1 is appalling

The game is punishing enough with the loss of exp, the fact that loot is scarce to begin with with upgrades being nearly impossible to find outside of hocking your exalted orbs on a third party site.

Mapping is for farming. When you die and have to start that map over, you've lost time; that is supposed to be the punishment. Deleting the map and making you start a whole new one is not just a bad idea, its borderline sociopathic. This is by far the worst thing I've seen in this game so far. You can't tack on multiple different punishments and then rip the map away as well, that doesn't make any sense.

just dont die.

Get better defenses, play better, many options other than dying.
Step 1 is to self reflect.
