One death per map is honestly fucking dumb as hell.

For everyone else saying this is legit feedback. It's not.
After hitting endgame for a while I got used to it. I don't mind getting back to 6-portal but I would expect the content to get way more difficult then. Especially the Endgamebosses would be free with 6portals but are very good designed for 1 portal. Xoph design is outstanding, always challenging but never unfair and for that beatable even with zdps.

Maybe could meet at 2 although I can imagine that you might disappoint as much people with the decision as you would satisfy.

So your version of a better gamer is playing slow and passive. On death effects are what kill most people so just having to sit and wait after you kill every pack to make sure. The lack of crafting and forced trading also does not make you a better player.

It's very simple 1 death per map is joke. If you want to play hardcore go do it. No one is stopping you. If you want to play at a snails pace go ahead. Your going to die it going to happen so being punished for something that is going to happen is just plain stupid. I got to maps on day 2 before all the drop buffs. The end game is utter trash atm.
One attempt at a simulacrum is the worst. Maps don't bother me.

I think you're right and this feeling is likely split in the community. I think it was a split feeling within GGG as well. I like the 1 portal system but it might belong in another mode like Ruthless.

That is irrelevant to you having 1 or more portals.

They should focus on fixing the things that are actually bad, like stated above.
You cant use the fact that there are overtuned mechanics in an EA game as an excuse for why having only one portal is bad.

By that logic why stop at six portals? Why dont you just ask for infinity portals, since its meaningless anyway.
There is just too much out of your control to justify having only 1 try. No amount if gItTiNg GoOd will fix that.

Comparing it to hardcore is laughable. Not really. Have zero movement speed zero room for error. On death effects have been part of poe for ages. So calling them overturned is just plain funny. You already get an xp loss when you die. So losing all the map progress because of one portal is way to punishing.

So not having crafting to fix res and being forced into trading as an ssf player it's utter garbage. So it is basically watered down hardcore. They quickly found out no one liked ruthless poe 2 ea right away and fixed drops. It will be the same with the 1 portal. Sure some people will like it but you know those people could always just not use the other portals :p
