Hard crashing PC locks up

Please solve this issue, the first 2 days I played without problems, but after the third day i can't play at all, getting hard pc-crashes and normal game crashes everytime i log onto the game, or whenever im playing, cant play for more than 5 minutes without getting the game crashed

Same issue, 3090 TI, Ryzen 7 5800x. 50% chance the PC locks up anytime I go into a loading screen, i.e. portal, zone change, opening atlas. Game settings don't make a difference. On Windows 24H2 since 11/17. Issue JUST started happening last night though, got all the way to Act3 before it happened once.

Happening to me as well twice today and only with PoE2. No other games on my system crash like this or this hard. Happened when I streamed on day 1. Was an early end to that stream. Have to hard reboot as my system is completely locked up.

System Specs:

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.9Ghz
64GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB RAM
Windows 11 Professional (x64), Version 24H2, Build 26100.2454
24TB SSD and HDD total storage

I had these day 1.

4080 + 1300k

My issues went away after changing to Vulcan engine, capping FPS, setting quality to balanced, turning off Nvidia overlay and steam overlay.

It felt very much like a computer drawing too much power problem, but works like a charm now.

Same, 4080 super, i9900k cpu, will try Vulkan as some folks suggest here

And I had the same problems as everyone else in this thread.

I did a small tests.

I installed several different versions of Windows:

Win10 21h2 * the game did not load at all, but did not freeze the computer

Win11 24H2 * The game started, but the probability of freezing the computer was about 90% when entering or changing location

I also tried the Steam version and the stand alone client does not affect the result.

The problem is definitely not in the Windows version.

But I found a temporary solution for myself, maybe it will help someone else too.

I used BES - Battle Encoder (BES cpu limiter google it)

and limited the consumption of the PoE process by -15%, I also changed the renderer to Vulkan.

8 hours of play, and not a single freeze, lag or hint of it. Win11 24H2 btw.

For everyone with 11 24H2 freeze/BSOD issue, I found a fix, hopefully works for you too. Apparently it's a known Microsoft Windows issue and affects other software, so it might not be for GGG to fix.

What resolved it for me:

1. Run msconfig
2. Go to the Services tab
3. Check the 'Hide all MS services' checkbox
4. Turn off ALL remaining services on the list and restart your PC

If the issue still persists after that (it did for me) open up a Task Manager -> Processes and see if it has any non-essential processes you could end to see if they cause it to happen. For me they were Armoury Socket (mainboard related but useless driver backround stuff), Brave Software Update and Spotify.

After I end those tasks along the unnecessary services the game has been running without issues for past 2 days and I played 12h a day, while I experienced the freeze issue like 5-6 times on the first night.

Obviously only one service could be the issue here so you could try re-enabling them one by one to see if the issue starts re-ocurring but I haven't bothered with that yet.

Edit: forgot to mention and not sure if it affects the issue but I'm using Vulkan for rendering as it gives me roughly 15% better performance than DX12.

saw a post about someone just turned engine multithread off this worked for me had about a 4-5 hour gameing session where there was no issues besides having to play with 30-45 fps world and 15 in town i had easily twice this in act 1 i dont know what act 2 is but it tanks my fps hard compared to act 1 i also turned like everything to lowest settings or off so it also looked like ass but you know i guess its better then not playing at all
