Hard crashing PC locks up

I had issues first day waiting for servers. I realized I accidentally changed the renderer to DX11. After changing to Vulkan, not one freeze or PC softlock.

Graphic settings are:

4K, Windowed FS, Vulkan, VSync Off
DLSS and DLAA On
HDR On

Detail Settings are fully maxed out (default or higher)

Nvidia Reflex On+Boost
No FPS Cap foreground, 30 Background
Dynamic Culling Off
Multithreading On

PC Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
be quiet! Dark Rock Elite Cooler
Gigabyte B650E Aorus Elite X AX Ice
Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC
Teamgroup 32GB CL30-6000 RAM
Windows 11 Pro on 24H2 (26100.2454)
Crucial T700 1TB for OS drive
Samsung 980 Pro 2TB for game drive
Nvidia driver version 566.36 (Latest)
Nvidia control panel is all default

Observed stats:
CPU temp doesn't reach 70C (only comes close leading a zone)
CPU power doesn't reach 70W (no OC)
GPU temp hits 70C in heavy combat
GPU power almost reached 450W
Based on the replies in this thread, reddit, and elsewhere on the internet, as well as examining poster's different PC and Windows configurations, here's what appears to NOT be causing the freezes/crashes:

Windows Build 24H2 - people are having freezes and crashes on Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 10 22H2 as well.

AMD or Intel CPUs - people with both Intel and AMD CPUs are having the same issues.

AMD X3D CPUS - people using regular X AMD CPUs, as well as non-X AMD CPUs are having the same issues.

Windows 7 Compatibility Mode is NOT solving the issue for all people.

Disabling CPU cores, Undervolting CPU and/or Undervolting GPU are NOT solving the problem for all people.

Disabling every graphic POE setting to the most bare bones level or turning them off is NOT solving the problem for many people.

Switching the API (DirectX, Vulkan, etc...) is not solving the issues for many people.

UPDATE 12/10/2024

Nvidia RTX GPUs - people with AMD Radeon GPUs are also reporting the same issues, so it's not exclusive to a specific videocard chipset.

Windows 11 23H2 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD

******The only COMMON aspect I've seen that most people with freeze/crash/BSOD issues is that almost everyone is using an NVIDIA GPU - mostly RTX GPUS. Has anyone had these same issues with an AMD RADEON GPU (video cards, not CPU)??? Perhaps the issues is with the RTX Nvidia cards?

Just throwing this out there.

This is a great compilation of information and aligns with everything I've seen as well. Just throwing out there that I've seen reports and personally experiences the issue in both games on two entirely different systems, one with a non-RTX Nvidia card, and one with an RTX Nvidia card. Definitely not isolated to RTX cards, but might be limited to Nvidia?
Well, if this is a GPU issue, why setting up affinity and removing CPU cores prevents entire PC to freeze? If this was GPU issue, that should not have any impact and if the GPU driver crash, CPU cores should not matter.

What I think: There are multiple causes which has similar symptom (PC freeze). Maybe 24h2 is the issue for half of the users here and if they revert to 23h2, it would solve all for them. And maybe others for who 24h2 is not the issue but overheating, corrupted or old drivers causing the similar symptoms (PC freeze)

Anyway, anyoune who could try to install 3-4 months old GPU drivers to see if that could help? Or disable MPO?

As much as I want this problem completely solved. I want to know WHY.

I keep thinking about why I don’t see any big streamer or content creator really, having this problem.
I’m glad they don’t because this is really bad.

I hope this problem goes away, on a unimportant note I want to try start making content on poe2 and I’ve so far crashed and force restarted my pc like 20 times up till now

Thanks. Yea, the only thing I've seen in common is everyone using Nvidia RTX GPUs.

I haven't seen a single person post about game crashing issues using any AMD Radeon GPUs.

I also understand that the game consoles (Xbox/PS) both use AMD APUs for video processing, and far as I can tell, they don't have any issues.

So it makes me wonder if GGG optimized the game for AMD video chipsets and the Nvidia chipsets are not as optimized as a result?

I believe that is because Content creators have usually non x3d CPUs as those are bad for video rendering, and majority of users here with issues do have x3d CPUs and only few which has different CPUs. Who knows ..

This is currently among high priority issues, fingers crossed.
Running the following system:

5800X3D
Sapphire 6900XT
32GB G-Skill Trident Neo

Running the latest 24.12.1 drivers and haven't had a single stutter, freeze or lockup.

Game has been running like butter, but as already mentioned, the common denominator seems to be an Nvidia card, presumably with an AMD CPU?

PirateSoftware is a huge content creator and had this issue. His fix? He just turned off multithreading permanently in the POE2 Settings. However, guessing he has a NASA PC because it didn't effect his frames like it does me.
