From what we've seen so far, do you feel you're going to stay with PoE1 or move to PoE2?
Nope. It's way too hard. There is no loot. I'm level 14, and using the same weapon since level 2. The traders don't have anything to buy, and everything cost too much.
And boss are bullet sponges. Dodge-dodge-dodge-dodge then fire 1 time, then dodge ad infinitum for 10 minutes. White monsters are mobing and rushing me. So I have to kite them for 5 minutes. I really hope there will be some major tuning. But if it stays like that, I will play something else. It's way too boring right now. Last edited by MadPharmacist#6843 on Dec 9, 2024, 7:44:06 AM

I was super hyped for POE2 and spend about 17h until Saturday, but I won't continue for the foreseeable time.
I have now played through the Campaign on Normal and about half of Act 1 Cruel. The first time encountering bosses was great, I was on the edge of my seat all the time. Died a couple of times to a few bosses, learned what killed me, then killed the boss. The second time, every boss already feels like a chore, where I have to be somewhat focussed, but ultimately, I'm doing the same thing for 5-10 minutes. I can handle them, I don't die, but it just feels like it stops me from getting anywhere for 5-10 minutes. This combined with the absence of rewards most of the time, is a real downer to me. Playing a summoner of course doesn't help in this regard, as I can really just run in circles without having to do anything, although curses and flame walls speed things up by a minute or so. I really dread getting to maps to encounter the known bosses again and again. I love crafting and trading in POE1, but without meaningful drops I won't be doing that in POE2. from level 25 to 45 I basically didn't switch my gear (I think one ring got upgraded) because I neither had enough bases, nor orbs, nor ready-to-use drops. My character gets better through level-ups only and does so at about the same pace the mobs get better, so I don't really feel it. Ruthless-of-Exile 2 isn't for me. |

i'm sticking with poe1 for sure. i just cant imagine playing poe2 in its current state. only just hit act 3 today. the campaign shouldn't be this incredibly slow.

" They put more emphasis on vendors for campaign upgrades but gold is in such short supply so even when you can afford it you need luck or it’s a bit rough for upgrades. |

I like PoE2 graphics, animations, lore, atmosphere.
But it overall looks more hardcore and punishing even for classic PoE player. Thats why all the whine on chats, thats good. I like hardcore, but it is also lot gear dependant. In this state all your success is about RNG gear you have, and some dodge skills. And heavy grind. I actually does not care if i grind on release 20hours acts or 20 hours maps. You grind one or other its about grind it was all the time. Thats OK. The grind must be fun, that the game is about. But in this state, the hardest are first 3 acts the cruel is much easier challenge than normal (In Poe1 it is reversed). For me, the effort on cruel is like 5-10 percent i did on 1-3 act on normal. Lets see how the endgame looks like. But overall i am still hyped for POE2 after 25 hours played. The only problem i see is getting HP and resist gear is somehow RNG and somehow vital to not get oneshot sometimes. On SC its ok, you run again and be faster. On HC you re dead. |

I tried out like 5 different classes in poe 2, and it is just not for me, levelling was a chore that just made me angry, not really enjoying it atm, so I will come back in the future after some updates that hopefully fix the current state of the game.

Now that I had the opportunity to play POE2 at a friend's house I can 100% say that I will stick with POE1. The graphics, the animations, the sound and the atmosphere are all great but the gameplay just isn't for me. The monsters that I hate the most in POE1 are those tar speading zombies and playing POE2 feels like walking through tar all the time. I already feared that it would be that way from all the videos that I watched but actually playing the game was even worse. Is is soooo slow and the dodge roll combat is soooo boring I'd rather play pong than POE2 tbh.

I will be staying with POE2.
Can't wait to try all new classes and skills! I love what GGG did with POE2 - the graphics are amazing, - sound is top notch, - boss fights are really engaging (I actually have to stop and think for a moment about the strategy how to fight, if I encounter some boss that I can't win on first try), - anytime something useful drops, I feel really happy. Drops have meaning now, The only thing I don't like are the zones in campaign. They are too big. Since we don't have movement skills it takes a lot of time to traverse them. And fighting mobs all the way. You can't run past them, they will surround you and kill you. And then the whole zone resets and mobs respawn. And you have to run the whole way back, if you haven't reached a checkpoint. Even with checkpoints it can still be very far. The only positive thing about zone reset is that if you encounter a mob, who is impossible for you to kill at the moment, after dying and resetting, there will be a mob with different modifiers. But in general, when Jonathan said that it will take on average 25 hours to complete the campaign the first time, I was thinking it will be because of all the different things to do and not because of the distance we have to run. Anyway, loving POE2 so far! Will be nolifing it for sure. |
