From what we've seen so far, do you feel you're going to stay with PoE1 or move to PoE2?
" They already did.. one of latest interviews they said POE1 already in the same engine. That although doe snot mean they have the same animations, models, textures, etc.. |

By definition it does. It means the technical part is there. So no it does not require to make a whole new game as other suggested. Yes it still demands some work to remake assets and use the engine new capabilities. But half the path has been traversed already... will they do the other half? That is much harder to predict.

Just like you did? Because I worked 8 years in game development, and GGG themselves said the engine of both POE is the SAME. So my statement is based with much more fundament than yours.

" The engine and core code is the same, yes. Both games pull from the same asset pools. That does not mean it's somehow a small lift to ask them to recreate every single PoE1 asset at PoE2 quality levels, nor to rebuild PoE1 to utilize new POE2 game systems such as the skill rework. After all, doing that is sorta...developing Path of Exile 2. A process which has taken them, like, seven years so far. | |
" So what was you doing in this 8 years? BTW look the post @1453R You can clearly tell he knows his shit. On Probation Any% Last edited by Dxt44 on Sep 9, 2024, 11:09:29 AM

I will simply not be playing either. Game was fun for awhile but then they changed stuff so basically every fun build I enjoyed became irrelevent.

" Waaaaaaaat?!?!?!?!?! You do realize that nearly every new game in certain "generations" for years were built on the "same" engines. Unreal, whatever Diablo and clones used, flash engines, etc. The engine is akin to the "language" of the new game....but like 99% of the actual new game still has to be brand new. To claim that "half the path has been traversed already" is to completely misunderstand what an "engine" is and the work involved in developing a new game. To put it in real life terms: the game "engine" is the basic shape of a typical car. Not the tech inside, purely the shape. But the actual new car is...everything else. New features, new engine (for the car), gas mileage/usage, technology, aerodynamics, design changes, safety, etc. To put it in simple software terms: the languages "html" and "java" are the engine upon which all websites that exist today are built. The language itself gives you absolutely nothing by itself, except the way to proceed with your ideas. Last edited by jsuslak313 on Sep 9, 2024, 1:42:40 PM

POE2 uses the updated engine, which POE1 transitioned to, in order for cosmetic items to work and transfer between the two games.
So yeah, POE2 uses the same engine as POE1, but its the updated engine which is new to POE1. |
