Lightning Scorpion Pet Looks Cool, But...
" It has nothing to do with mine, yours, or anyone else's intelligence. It's about the arrogant tone of these complaints; all of the random broad statements with no definitive meaning, throwing out generalities left and right. We understand that you're offended by the price for whatever reason. However, projecting your logic onto others as the be all and end all is tiresome.
Package deals for multiple items would be a much greater incentive for people to spend money compared to purchasing individually. The closed supporter beta packs were worth every penny. The current shop falls way short.

" No. It's not. Did you read a single word I wrote? You can't compare one cosmetic item to another and evaluate their relative worth. The worth is ENTIRELY and COMPLETELY subjective. " Then the item is not designed for you. You have to understand that there are people playing this game for whom $90 holds the same relative value as $9 does to you. " So all the cancer Orgs. etc are not a donation now? I mean yeah i can see what you mean it's a company. But at the sametime this is a small company, so it's kind of like a donation. If this was blizzard making this game i'd say no it's not a donation at all. My wife always gets stuff from throwing money at breast cancer every year. T-shirt or a bag etc. Also you can look at it this way in reverse to. A lot of these places you donate to only about 10% of the money ever makes it to the patient. So really could be considered a business and your not donating to say breast cancer :) (just using breast cancer as a example since it's so strong advertised on tv). "It would be like spending 90 bucks on any cosmetic item to change the appearance of the car. To some its worth it, to others its not. Sure there are $90 fuzzy dice, but there are also $5 ones to be had as well. Most people wouldn't enjoy driving a car thats 60 bucks a fill and gets 20mpg on a good day, and thus most people don't drive sports cars. They think its pointless. Most people wouldn't enjoy spending 90 bucks on a pet, and so most people wont have expensive pets. They think its pointless... I'm a lurker so I'm not what the hell I'm thinking by posting when I know its not gonna do any good lol Last edited by ZFreie on Feb 8, 2013, 1:32:56 PM

The stratification is a business strategy. If you don't believe it's worth it, fine, but some people might. If nobody does, the price goes down.

" This is how I reckon this pricing was decided: "Some of the feedback suggests there are people out there who will pay *even more* than the current prices for cosmetic items. Can you believe it?!? I'm struggling to come to terms with it myself but heck, let's see what the market will bear." The current iteration of this pricing strategy is like "just charge a lot more for the stuff with the most sparkle." As OP said, there isn't much difference in look to the previous iteration of pets, they just cost more. If the OP's reaction is true for the vast majority, I guess GGG will try a bit harder next time! :P. There has to be a low point where some people stop complaining because it's just not worth it, and I have yet to see it. - Squeakypaw, 2013 Last edited by obadonke on Feb 8, 2013, 1:47:33 PM

" Well said. I personally would never buy the pet for that price (especially not for something that just follows you around and cannot be interacted with in any way whatsoever) but if somebody else does so the money is used to support the game, that's good enough for me.
It is optional. I don't see the problem. GGG staff have bills to pay. How should they put food on the table when they have been good enough to offer a free game with optional payments with gifts attached?
I think some are being unkind and unrealistic. If you don't want a gift then just donate to show your appreciation. |

" I seriously doubt they did this because they have money issues. They did this because they can and people pay a ridiculous amount of money for something that really should not be sold for such a high price. The microtransaction store is not setup for you to donate to the team. Why people think this is true is beyond me. If people really want to "donate" that much, then something more than a re-skinned pet can and should be offered. People seem to think its ok for this to be sold for so high and tout "dont buy it if you find it too expensive, they need funding, consider it a donation, its worth it to someone, etc" Its actually a bad habit for a company to start charging an obnoxious price for such things. I would rather see prices that are within certain reasonable price ranges. Sure, have things that are higher prices with better skins, but dont go so overboard that you're charging $90 for it. Just because they can charge a high price, doesn't necessarily mean they should. As everyone has told me several times now, its all subjective to what you think its worth. Sure, if you don't think its worth it then you don't buy it. That logic alone, however, does not justify it being that price in the first place. Shrug. |
