Lightning Scorpion Pet Looks Cool, But...

Damnit!

Patience, my friend. We have a 10 year development plan ahead of us... perhaps these critters will be killable somewhere along the way. ;)

Yes, but they could drop the price and open up the option for more people to want to pay.

People who say "think of the 90 bucks as a donation" are not thinking things out properly. A microtransaction shop is not created for people to donate, its created for people to snag things at a reasonable price for their ingame characters.

All conclusory statements. Reasonable is relative...therefore the assumption that dropping the price for more people to pay doesn't mean anything worthwhile.

It's all conjecture.
The only reason anyone would buy such a limited appeal and high price pet is to show people that they have $90 to throw away. I'm not against spending $90 or even $1000 on PoE, but, for that money, you should at least get something worth that price... not just a different skin (unless it's an epic reskin of epic proportions).

It would be different if it were actually cool and did some of the stuff suggested in the OP. But, as it is, it's just to show that you spent $90 on it.

So you're saying its reasonable that this thing is $90? Pretty sure the money spent you are talking about was spent in a much more tangible way. I don't care that they are charging for these things. I have bought a lot from the store. But 90 for something like this is really stupid.

Truth, if I took all the money I have invested into my Camaro I would have diamond supporter 10 times over lol

This would be like spending 90 dollars on fuzzy dice to hang on your rear view mirror.

I assume you and everyone else is intelligent enough to understand when something is overpriced.

A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.

I agree it would be cool if it did little actions, or something, but saying 'if it was actually cool' is highly subjective. Some people will think it's cool- and they will be the ones that buy it. ;)

People who don't want to spend $90 already have options. The cheaper cosmetic items.

The value of a cosmetic item is completely subjective. $90 may seem expensive to you, which is a good sign this pet is not designed for you. It's designed for people for whom $90 does not seem like a lot of money for a cool little lightning pet.

People complaining just don't seem to grasp the concept of cosmetic microtransactions. The whole idea is to add content that appeals to a wide range of income brackets. No cosmetic-only item is ever going to be "worth" the cost. It is literally worthless. It does nothing. The value is only in demonstrating that you contributed a certain amount to the game. The expensive items appeal to whales, of which there are many, and provide a much-needed revenue stream to the developers. Just be glad they are using that money to invest in new game content, skills, classes and enemies which you will get FOR FREE.

So while you may not be able to comfortably justify the $90 price tag for this item, be glad that it exists and be glad that there are people who will pay for it. The cost to develop is cheap, and all the profit is going toward making the game more enjoyable for EVERYONE (you included).

If it did a "bunch of cool stuff" that would require developer time and effort and artist effort, which would distract from developing actual game content and consume needed resources . That defeats the entire purpose of GGG's strategy of cosmetic-only microtransactions to fund actual game content.

TL;DR if you don't think it's worth $90, then it's not the pet for you. Ignore that it even exists and you will be a happier person.

You get what you pay for.

Do I think it's worth $90? No.

Do other people think it's worth $90? Yes.

So one pet worth $90 is comparable to everything else you could spend that $90 on? The whole "Its made for people who can afford $90" is ridiculous. I think even asking for the $90 in the first place is just insane, whether someone would pay that price or not.

I don't think many people doubt it's cool, just maybe not $90-cool. For that price, I'd like something more than the basic scorpion pet with different colors. IMO, the extra pricing should be justified somehow, other than "some people will buy it anyway". Like I said, I'm not against the game making loads of money... I want it to! I just want the devs to put more effort into the different items, which should, in turn, make more money!
