Lightning Scorpion Pet Looks Cool, But...
At the end of the day, if the price is too high, GGG will know since very few people will be buying it. Its often better to price something more cheaply since you can get many more people purchasing it then if you overprice something (business 101)
Personally, I don't think that lightning scorpion is worth 90, closer to 50-60. If it was some demonic awesome looking creature, then yeah sure, but its just a scorpion with some lightning on it GGG should take a page out of the Valve/LoL book, if something looks especially awesome, then you can charge something like 90 dollars for it. The scorpion doesn't fall into that category. I mean, I got the vamparic effect on the weapon which is 200 shop currency, and thats because it looks god damn awesome. In fact that should be worth more than a lightning scorpion. I also got the heart for similar reasons If you make things expensive for the hell of making things expensive, you will eventually lose in the long run Last edited by deteego on Feb 9, 2013, 12:05:40 AM

expensive in game vanity pets you say? (by the way, don't buy that thing, there is a scratch off code on it and if left unscratched for 8 years its almost impossible to read if you scratch it... so I've been told) Last edited by papakapp on Feb 9, 2013, 12:13:38 AM

" That's because it's extremely rare and in very limited quantity. Lightning scorpion can be created an infinite amount of times. Like the other guy said, it's simple business 101, supply and demand. There's a very high demand for that pet, and there's very limited supply, so it will sell for a ridiculous amount of monies. Lightning scorpion can be created in the millions. See you, Space Cowboy... Last edited by Origination on Feb 9, 2013, 12:29:45 AM

I find it funny that in all other F2P games I have a feeling that I'm a part of a business model, while in PoE I feel that I'm participating in some sort of charity.
Microtransaction deals are called that way, because they are based on micro transactions. I can imagine pet bundles being sold for $70-90, but not a single pet. Gold & Diamond packs were fine, in the end you got Closed Beta access, awesome kiwis, tons of points, signed loot and other cool bonuses for your money. Now the Lightning Scorpion costs almost as a Silver pack, only with no additional sweets. Oh well, as some posters before me wrote: come on, rich folks, buy those pets! Help the devs, help other players! Donate your money to GGG! :))) " There are no items for $90 in Valve/Riot shops. In fact, the most expensive cosmetic skins there cost ~$20. Probably those companies understand nothing in marketing and GGG needs to reinvent the wheel. Last edited by Kurili on Feb 9, 2013, 4:25:30 AM

I will die for a self folding pants at $90
At that price tag I think I deserve to ask for a bit more animation other then following and making noise. AND PANTS!!!
Five dollar red royal frog ftw.

Lets put it this way: There is nothing in there i really want appart from stashtabs.
So yeah, it could use an improvement there. Like the OP said, if the thing is cool enough i'll buy it eventually, even for a high price. I already have the coolest pet in the game and i am not interestet in animation stuff mmo style. Also weaponeffects are only cool if you've worked for it in game, like if you found it in game.
" Also, it's not Blizz who's selling that pet code. But yea, 90$ for the scorpion is ridiculously overpriced for what it does. (and how it looks) |
