Molten Strike
"Read up on how conversion actually works. Its is additive and the bottom line is 100% is converted. If 100% of your damage is converted, then elemental and physical nodes both work at 100% and hence are both as effective..... unless you run anger or get other flat fire dmg..... so in effect ele nodes are actually slightly better. Added fire and hatred are not conversions, you just plain dont know what you are talking about. My tooltip dps went up around 25% when taking avatar. This is because now that 40% physical is being boosted by WED and my ele nodes. Of course the downside is that now you NEED fire pen and ele weakness curse or ele resist mobs will suck. I have a doranis catalyst lined up for this char. It has 315 dps and 90% elemental damage. This is gonna be fuckin beastly with 100% fire conversion. Last edited by Splift on May 3, 2014, 12:42:36 PM

while avatar of fire would be 100% converted physical to fire... while using the skill (the part that makes the statement true), hatred will get half benefit if used and might have been more damage to use added fire (and fire pene) and hatred together instead of AoF. these "added based on" effects happen during conversion, using original physical values (last i checked/remember). it explains why damage dropped a lot still after taking AoF and removing added fire.

"Added fire will be the same with or without Avatar so that does not really go into the equation unless you count the quality on added fire which will have even more fire damage to boost. So added fire will be even slightly better with avatar. Yes hatred will suck balls with avatar like I said a few posts back. However, as long as you use a fast weapon anger will provide similar dps (especially if level 21). Not to mention hatred damage boost wont be affected by fire pen, while anger will and if we have any fire specific nodes then the same thing. Last edited by Splift on May 3, 2014, 2:22:14 PM

" thx, not sure how I came with idee, that concentraed effect had a fixed +50%MORE damage and lvling it up, made the 30reduced aoe, become smaller, when lvl it up. thx for pointing that out to me, gone lvl it up asap! GGG, should simply tooltip the next lvl gem stats orelse you can only play the game, with a 6web-pages of information open! I played some coc builds, chain-gmp and it amuzed me that my killspeed drops to 6.66% atm only 1 monster is left! same for my healings! This made me focus on solo target damage only, on the next builds I made. you are wright, that the concentrated effect have negative effects when fightning vs big groups of monsters, It can even have a bad effect vs solo target, since it takes longer before it comes in damage range. Lucky, that I not have thease problems, since most of my damage comes from cwdt-gems How silly it may sound! and the cwdt gems will provide the aoe vs multitargets, that I need even if my cwdt-damage would be low, its all I need to kill the poor monsters, when focus my attack on the strongest monster multistrike can interfear in this tactic to make story short, I focus attack on strong monster, and the smaller ones simply have the time to come in damage range and die even sooner then the target I focus on the aoe not helps my killspeed, unless I would kill the monsters super fast! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBhLZ8rn80Q&feature=youtu.be you can see that a bit in this video, ofc my killspeed should not be taken serious! the wiki page, put some new skill informations on molten strike today! http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Molten_Strike Life on Hit: The stated amount of life on hit will be restored for both the initial hit and for each projectile that strikes an enemy. Piercing Projectiles: Molten Strike projectiles cannot chain, pierce, or fork. Point Blank: Projectiles are affected by Point Blank even though the melee attack is not. So the wiki has been updated: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Molten_Strike
If we're interested in scaling the damage of the projectiles, maybe the best 6L would be: Molten Strike - Multistrike, Fire Penetration, Life Gain on Hit, Weapon Elemental Damage, Physical Projectile Attack Damage Or would you take one out for Added Fire Damage, Faster Attacks, etc.? (To me, LMP and GMP are bad ideas because the damage penalty hurts the projectiles a lot).
" LMP & GMP just make the projectiles deal 16.67% more expected dmg. It's a lot, but sound like other supports are better (unless we got a 7L so we can use this). (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Last edited by WillisTheWillis on May 3, 2014, 10:42:29 PM

" Actually the only reason to warrant LMP/GMP is if you're using LGoH so you get way more life back. I'm not sure it's worth taking out a support gem though.
Very important question!
Does Increased projectile speed work with it? In other words, does it make magma balls fall quicker and/or fly further? I mean it seems like it should work, but then based on key words chain also should work :P Last edited by Avenroth on May 4, 2014, 7:32:39 PM

I used a unique with projectile spd when i first had this skill, didn't make the bombs drop quicker or make them travel further.
Don't know if this has been answered, but can the projectiles miss? I'm guessing that they can because they are an attack, but I'm kinda hoping they act like firestorm. |
