Showcase of 0.5. melts bosses in seconds - WTF?!

- It seems the game is getting more trivial and zoomy with every patch.
- Less and less skill is required.
- Less and less attention is required.
- The only challenge to characters are one-shots.
- Monk new ascendancy showcase melts Xesht in 8 seconds - quite sad to see.
- Build pasted ingame, one button hold to explode whole screen, few seconds to melt a boss. What is my added value to the game that is so easy? Why should I play this? A monkey can do the same in such setting.
-I don't want to "play the minimap" and be overstimulated by shitton of action speed and everything constantly exploding.

I don't want a re-skin of PoE 1.
1) Boss that dies in seconds is not a boss, its a regular mob. I want to actually fight (like 0.1 Geonor)!
2) Player power is too high too fast. Week 1 of each league.
3) I feel over-stimulated, can't see shit on the screen and struggle to find any meaning in blasting maps by 1-button screen clears.

if the boss took too long to die then people would just complain about that and call the skill "weak". no matter what they do people will complain.
anyway its just a showcase. boss didnt have any buffs from atlas. you can add +4 to bosses if you want them harder.

And yet Jonathan was saying this when he was asked about our concerns by ZiggyD...

"People often judge things by watching streamers who are often playing something that's completely cracked and out of control. And so people don't get an understanding of what the average player is actually experiencing."

People will get mad about this comparison but... this really isn't all that different from the “Do you guys not have phones?” line that Blizz guy did. Different setting/issue... same out of touch energy.

"Sigh"

I see the comparison you are going for but I really think they were completely different in the context and meaning...

As least what Johnathan said THIS time is true.

If you are comparing yourself to them and judge what you see (you clearly do) then that in itself is the problem he is describing.

Ever notice when a new "cracked" build is discovered? Tons of views on the videos. People rush to do the same thing (because they find it fun) and the side effect that is felt by all is the price inflation in the market for the specific gear pieces.

Same thing on the inverse which I believe applies to you. You see the build, you dont like it. Instead of just not playing it and letting those who do find it fun play it, you come here to call out the build because it is not what you like.

That is what I get from his statement. It is a two way street for both the people who want to emulate the build and those who do not like that it exists.

Deep down 99% of all the complaints boil down to trade and SSF with self imposed challenges fix a lot of it. You either care because they are getting more drops than you so you don't like it or you care because you want the game to be harder. SSF and HC are there along with the ability to self impose challenges.

I am the furthest thing from a god gamer and am far from a 12 hour a day player. But I have fun killing the monsters in the game. I have played some builds where I need to play more tactical and pay attention and I have played one build I could just delete stuff and it was super fun. If you cant find any way to enjoy this by your own standards then I am not sure what to say.

I love melee tanky characters. That is why I am was really disappointed they have not added in swords, axes, flails, or daggers yet. I think those will be my favorites to play by far. But each league (all but one) I have tried to make a different style of warrior work. Like I said before, some I have had a good time on, others not so much. But I tried to figure out a lot of stuff on my own for as long as I could until I hit that roadblock of this guy keeps killing me and then went to trade. Not sure why those who play more than I do and know more about the game than I do can't seem to find a way to keep their player power in check to give them that challenge they want.

I understand what you mean, but I would still believe we need to have some boundaries.

Imagine a racing game and a circuit that should take roughly 5mins, less if you are driving well with a good car, but then some players make it to the end in 5sec. Objectively speaking, that's bullshit and kills the purpose of the game, even if those players keep shouting "I'm having fun, leave me be"

Bosses are bosses for a reason, with designed moves, speech lines and much more. Killing them before they lift a hand is simply stupid.

Someone who plays 12h a day, knows all tricks and is a great player should still kill the boss in about a minute and not less.. I'm fine if to a noob like me it takes 3. But we need boundaries, otherwise the game turns into a silly clicker. - And its heading that "PoE 1 speed stupidity" already.
The problem is they want to keep nerfing defenses. Developing for 1 minute boss fights with one-shot abilities when our defenses keep getting nerfed don't really fit together.

I'd also be happier if we could be more tanky and bosses lasted longer. But GGG doesn't seem to want that based on the patch notes.
I watched the most recent video on Martial Artist which showed a build at end fighting 12million HP Xesht.
It was 8 second fight and Boss was mostly perma frozen. It got 1 hand ability off then died.

There is a 36 million HP version of that Boss too which would be much harder to freeze let alone perma freeze... but just considering the DPS - I feel like 24 seconds (possibly longer if Boss isn't perma frozen and you have to engage with its abilities) is good middle ground for Tier 4 Boss kill time.

Now there are unknowns such as the state of that characters gear... but I would prefer if high DPS, 95% gear optimized characters still took 10 sec or so and had to engage with 1-2 Boss mechanics (specifically their most rippy/notorious skills like Maven Memory Game OR Exarch Ball phase) in each fight as opposed to Insta kills.

I hope this fits with GGG's vision for PoE2.

I have one question to Mr. Jonathan: why is there still "something that's completely cracked and out of control" in your game? How many years was it? Poe2 is built on same system as poe1, so we can count poe1 years too.

You literally get video explanations on your balance oversights, yet no fixes in sight. And if you allow this mess on purpose, to better addict streamers and nolifers to your product, then don't take offense when others call your product a malicious trap, and don't censor those posts:)
