When GGG said that PoE2's development wouldn't impact their support of PoE1 it is because that's what they believed to be true at the time. I think you know this. I don't think you actually believe that when they said this they had already decided to divert resources away from PoE1 and were being deliberately dishonest in order to mislead you.
For sure. When they made this statement the first time, they believed it to be true.
The problem is, depending on how you define "lie", only with "intent" or a form of deception, it's sadly not that easy anymore.
They said "It will not interfere", but then realised later - they need help from the PoE1 devs with PoE2. Instead of being honest about it, they tried for a while to "fix" their issues in time, so if it worked - nobody had to know.
But then it wasn't enough to "fix" it, thus they ran out of time and had different results to present. So... we knew.
Hiding important information in relation to a statement that became untrue is deception and viewed as a lie.
And sure. We can say "mistakes happen", but not being honest about it until it's too late is sadly another thing.
A similar thing could be said about "PoE2 is an expansion of PoE1".
It was marketed this way in 2019, but after some time GGG realised - it will not be an expansion anymore, instead, a separate game. But they did not communicate this crucial change until way later in 2023.
Why? Well, I could guess. Anyway.
As much as I like GGG for making PoE1, there are quite a few things that happened in the last years that were a lie, and some that are just "fishy".

The engine and gameplay of what we now know nominally as POE2 was also advertised in 2019, a key point you keep glossing over but why would that be? I speculate it’s because GGG didn’t make the game you wanted, but GGG did POE1 fans such as yourself a service by separating the two and you’re too blinded by your own entitled expectations to see it. Not as an engrossing conversation as the ones you have with yourself I know but I did my best.

And you gloss over the fact that the gameplay in 2019 was just a showcase, and it was said that it does not represent how the game actually plays.
Furthermore, this argument is meaningless because no matter how it looked in 2019, it was marketed as a PoE1 expansion. So it being similar or not is not important, the fact that it's not PoE1 anymore - is.
There is more to PoE1 than the "looks of the gameplay".

You sure are making a lot of rationalizations for your distain for a game that you apparently stopped playing but somehow now lurk on the forums to complain about how bad it is. Def 100% healthy, normal, and mature.

Amazing what you get for $30 ...
Chill out, accept you paid for an EA and come back when its done and free. And if you don't like it then don't play
If that were all it is then no one would care.
Most people had invested way more than $30 into a game and a company they believed in.
First they lied about it being an expansion for PoE 1
Then they lied about the game being similar to PoE 2
Then they lied about the game not impacting development on PoE 1
Then they lied about the release date for 3.26.. twice.
People are justifiably disappointed and upset, you don't have to agree with them, but their opinions are every bit as valid as yours.
False, for about a year and some change they stated that POE 2 would not be an expansion.
False, for 6 months prior to release they went on about 50 podcast/interviews and they made it very clear that POE 2 will not be like POE 1 and that they want to capture a different audience.
Lying and admitting they they messed up are not the same thing.
False. They are a small company and the second they felt like they couldn't make 3.26 in time they told everyone and explained how they messed up.
This is all literally easily verified by just going on youtube and watching the tens of hours of interviews
Here is a timeline, with video documentation, of what GGG told us would happen with PoE 4.0 (and, to anyone who finds this useful, please, don't hesitate to share it around).
At Exilecon 2019, GGG announced PoE 4.0 as an upcoming expansion:
https://youtu.be/gM5SFgYbTaY?si=GAVHkUS57-GGN7tg&t=3456
Chris talked about PoE's history and future, and revealed that PoE 4.0 started development in 2017 (two years before Exilecon 2019).
https://youtu.be/mcd9BfVw7hQ?si=cBYDRCLzk6-XWiEc&t=278
Chris talked about not making PoE 2 a separate game because it would "split the community." Promised that PoE would continue to be supported, alongside the new campaign.
Then, four years later, at Exilecon 2023, GGG announced that PoE 2 would be a separate game:
https://www.youtube.com/live/Vvah-HfhkYc?si=FnAZwI-4ofb2x2TZ&t=7507
...And thus fulfilled Chris premonition about splitting the community.
In an interview later, Jonathan revealed just how long GGG had known that PoE 2 was going to be a separate game:
https://www.youtube.com/live/XE3MAFGDzWw?feature=share&t=14753
4:05:53 Octavian: "At what point in the development of POE 2 did you realize the game was too different and needed to be different from POE 1?" Jonathan: "So to me it was right after the Act 2 reveal - soon after that."
The Path of Exile II Act 2 reveal was posted on 08.04.2021. GGG knew that PoE II was going to be a separate game for TWO YEARS, and neglected to tell the players. I'd say we have plenty of cause to be salty about what amounted to a bait and switch! =>[.]<=

Good job. Just commenting so I have an easier time finding it in my own forum posts, should I see the need to share facts with someone who does not care about facts *sigh*
