If that were all it is then no one would care.
Most people had invested way more than $30 into a game and a company they believed in.
First they lied about it being an expansion for PoE 1
Then they lied about the game being similar to PoE 2
Then they lied about the game not impacting development on PoE 1
Then they lied about the release date for 3.26.. twice.
People are justifiably disappointed and upset, you don't have to agree with them, but their opinions are every bit as valid as yours.
False, for about a year and some change they stated that POE 2 would not be an expansion.
False, for 6 months prior to release they went on about 50 podcast/interviews and they made it very clear that POE 2 will not be like POE 1 and that they want to capture a different audience.
Lying and admitting they they messed up are not the same thing.
False. They are a small company and the second they felt like they couldn't make 3.26 in time they told everyone and explained how they messed up.
This is all literally easily verified by just going on youtube and watching the tens of hours of interviews

When this was first announced, it was announced as an expansion containing graphics updates.
When it was first announced as an expansion it was said to be similar to PoE 1.

Here is a hint...they didn't. They explained why it went from a update to POE 1 to a completely different game. Lying implies intent. They went into great detail on why exactly they made the call to make it a stand alone game and explained it for a LONG time lol

Correct. Lying is premeditated, implies nefarious intent. And lying is being conflated with the realities of evolving development. The gameplay has been getting shown for POE2 since 2019.

Yeah the biggest thing I see with the people who said they "lied" is they typically are immature and/or childish. I understand why some people who put years into POE 1 are disgruntled but there is two ways to handle it.
Handle A- Be a mature adult and ether wait for the patch or give constructive critiques on the game that keep what the DEVS want in conjuction with the new playerbase.
Handle B- act like a neckbeard and imply nefarious intent to a company that has stood by their decisions and in most peoples eyes are really a damn fine game company.
