I read it. I reread it. What did they lie about, specifically?

"arguing is pointless anyway"

Who's arguing? Lol

Correct. Lying is premeditated, implies nefarious intent. And lying is being conflated with the realities of evolving development. The gameplay has been getting shown for POE2 since 2019.

Yeah the biggest thing I see with the people who said they "lied" is they typically are immature and/or childish. I understand why some people who put years into POE 1 are disgruntled but there is two ways to handle it.

Handle A- Be a mature adult and ether wait for the patch or give constructive critiques on the game that keep what the DEVS want in conjuction with the new playerbase.

Handle B- act like a neckbeard and imply nefarious intent to a company that has stood by their decisions and in most peoples eyes are really a damn fine game company.

Well said. And misery loves company so what better place than to spread the negativity and fallacies in a feedback forum about the game they made up in their head that they were promised?
OP pays to participate in beta, complains game isn't complete.
Also I'm a kiwi, the holidays here (easter) are government enforced mandatory. GGG couldn't have their crew working even if they wanted to.
Man I'd love a 20 minute unfilmed session with someone at GGG just to hear them speak honestly about what it's like dealing with this unhinged community.

I know you don't care about what happened because you will say anyway, "GGG did not lie because in the last year before EA they told us what to expect", fully ignoring everything prior.
I mean, I could make it easy and refer to the lie, "PoE2 development will not interfere with PoE1", but then you would say "iNtEnT", while I could respond, "Well, they already took away the PoE1 devs months before they announced that PoE2 will interfere with PoE1", so they knew it's affecting PoE1, but intended not to tell us because they thought they can get away with it in time.
But then you ignore this or that and bla...

Like I said, arguing... is pointless.

Hey kids, there are rules in this world that adults have to abide by.
A business is required by law to provide time off for nationally recognized holidays.

I've read so many posts from you and I have genuine respect the passion you obviously have for PoE and GGG's work. I see how frustrated and disappointed you are with their decisions regarding PoE2's design and especially commitments they made to PoE1.

I can also tell from your posts that you're a rational and intelligent person, so I think under all of the anger and frustration you're feeling you actually know that the things you're saying are irrational and unreasonable.

When GGG said that PoE2's development wouldn't impact their support of PoE1 it is because that's what they believed to be true at the time. I think you know this. I don't think you actually believe that when they said this they had already decided to divert resources away from PoE1 and were being deliberately dishonest in order to mislead you or the community.

GGG didn't lie to you or anyone else. They made statements they believed to be true at the time and that were consistent with their intentions at the time.

But, guy... things change. Circumstances change. Economies change. It's clear at some point that GGG and Tencent looked at trend data and financials and realized that what they originally intended was just not going to work and that they were going to need to change their plans.

The fact that all of them together made the choice to focus on PoE2 means the data they had at the time on player activity, revenue, retention, growth, etc. told them that this was the most financially sound decision and so that is what GGG had to do even though it wasn't what they said or had intended to do (or even what they wanted to do - I'm sure there are people working at GGG who are just as disappointed as you about it).

That doesn't make them liars though. I know you know this. Things change. GGG doesn't have full autonomy to make unilateral decisions about their priorities. They are beholden to Tencent and regardless of what they want to do or what they said they would do in the past, Tencent is going to insist that they act always to maximize profit.

In summary, you really need to just do a little bit of growing up here. GGG isn't a mean nasty liar who lied to you about their plans - they're a for profit company who had to change plans because sometimes that's what companies have to do in the world we live in. They're called for-profit for a reason. They're not for-art or for-fun and they're certainly not for-you.

That was an interesting conversation you just had with yourself there.
