One death per map is honestly fucking dumb as hell.

Sorry for double post - but literally, another person posted this video on his thread: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3682593

Not the example I was thinking of, but this also happened to me a few different times. Funnily enough, also playing Merc.
So, bug aside (which is problematic in itself) should he get one shotted with that, or is it a balance/scaling issue, or both?
Honestly wouldn't be that bad if Rare & Unique items persisted on instance reset, the same way quest items do.

It's happened muiltiple times now where I trade deaths with a boss, watch it drop a unique, and just have to accept that I should go f*ck myself.

THAT design decision is perhaps the MOST disrespectful to players. Despite putting in all the time to finish the dungeon AND kill the boss at the end, because I also died at the very end due to some lingering AoE bullsh*t, I have to watch that hard earned orange item disappear on respawn.

F*ck that.

I lol'd - not kidding - I literally had this exact thing happen to me on the Oasis map a week or two ago.
I'll find a way to upload the video - I checked my PS5 and I remember recording it, and it's worse than I remember hahaha.

Granted it was at least telegraphed and in this case I really should have known better - but I kill one of the big mobs (rare) with the logs, map complete, get excited about an orange drop and run to get it, then one shot from explosion... can't make it up hahaha.

This one stung due to loot factor (as well just completing), but I've probably been stung more by the BS factor by a white or blue mob more, or like that guy posted in his thread - a bug of no telegraph of some imminent major hit.

I'll figure out how to upload this, if nothing else, just for the lols.
Here we go - in all its glory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FiDIJAhWKM

It was hard to accept because of the loot like I say, but as the other post I linked, getting killed by non-displayed attacks (on consoles at least) has happened more to me, and is worse given the context.

This is not a good example to give.

Your litterally running into the most obvious and telegraphed on death effect that currently exist in the game while having nothing else on your screen, no mobs or other threats around you. That is the most deserved death ive seen in poe2 so far.
If you have on-death effects AND single life rule you have to be extremely tight with your game coding and design in general that does not allow for any bugs, errors etc. to pass through. You didn't give ANY leniency to the player with this design so you should not give it to yourself GGG. And we know you're not tight enough on your coding to allow for this design, EA or not (no developer is, IT projects are never perfect!). Won't even mention how un-enjoyable it is to be kicked out of content I WANTED to engage with and was EXCITED to be engaged with whether due to fault of my own or a bug/cheap shot. And even when that happens, I can't learn from it, make improvements and jump again, nope, doors closed, spent another 10+hrs finding keys, maps etc. to maybe get another go. Again, just like with some design choices e.g. Trials, this one is a super easy fix.
This is one of the most annoying points in poe2, just one death per map.. what a bizarre thing to put in a game.. I'm not playing hardcore.. I'm playing softcore!!!!
The need to create a difficult game led ggg to make it difficult where it shouldn't be difficult and not only that, it made the game Difficult Boring instead of Difficult Legal
Hate it has to go!

There is just too much out of your control to justify having only 1 try. No amount if gItTiNg GoOd will fix that.

Well why not ask them to nerf these things instead?

If they remove one death per map, they'll end up just adding more bullshit, so softcore players will end up just dying more but still be able to complete maps, and hardcore players will be screwed big time.
+1 to the original post.

More than on-death-effects and one-shots I am annoyed when dying to a lag...

the moment your char starts lagging, the stressful button-pushing to survive the things that happen, while your pc freezes and the time-laps you get to see before you witness your death at the end of that benny-hill-style seconds, when your pc finally catches up.

Really, you all don't have these problems with lags? (sry, didnt read the whole thread).
It was one reason, I never played hardcore in PoE1, bc the servers and the connections are so bad at times.

And no, it is not a prob with my internet or pc, in fact, PoE is the only game, where I have these kind of connection-problems.
