I'm too soft for Poe2

"
Skill issues and expectations are just two reasons why some people posting aren't playing instead.

Exactly. People keep forgetting that PoE 2 is a whole different game.
There is nothing "hard" in PoE2.

There are easy mechanics made punishing by inflated numbers.

It is going to be nerfed by at least 20% once retention numbers come out. Cry now, or later. Either way, it is happening. Writing is on the wall.

the game is fun.. the mechanics is good..the drop is very bad and the HP on Act 2 & 3 is very high...they need to balance the drop rate and Mob hp..then its a fun game...the very sad thing is that you spend 20min to adjust your gem and gear and finally beat the boss..wowow and two magci item...this really really annoys me..

Who are their testers that are telling on this is the way. They have bunch of Yes people. They have had a decade of building a high quality ARPG and then to make its sequel a complete opposite of it. I know they take risks but in testing no one saw this as a problem. Especially if you are wanting to bring in new players, by making it MORE DIFFICULT? lol dang.

The game has been made more mechanically challenging (it's incredibly difficult to press dodge, requiring unreal reflexes) but simplified on a theoretical level. Now there are only a few orbs and a couple of essences. That's where crafting theory ends. If the loot drops were more generous, you'd realize there's simply nothing to do in the game. This has all been designed to attract new players, specifically console-loving 'hardcore' fans who genuinely believe that the need to dodge is a challenge for anyone
HC player who went SC after 1 death (get resistances and armor)

I've been playing POE off and on for 5 years or so, and being used to play HC mode in ARPGs (Diablo franchise 1-4), if there is one, and I looked forward to doing so in POE2 (even going in blind with bosses, mechanics etc). I enjoy being able to build a char, gear it, and try out my own builds that usually aren't the most efficient meta, and if I die trying - that is fine. After all, it is the thrill of having to stay vigilant, that does it for me (most players might feel different about that due to reasons).

I always play necro/summoner style and did so this time in POE2 as well. Fought the Blistered smth in the tutorial act and almost died. Went Devourer and same thing there. Met the Witch in the Hut and had to take a break since my adrenaline went through the roof. Heck, the white mobs were every now and then almost killing me too since my skeletons would die and I had to wait for respawn (had not gotten used to the skill where you summon temp scorpions when killing enemies).

Bottom line - progress was hard (for me) and when the Witch dropped two rares I was celebrating, thinking that things would surely change to become easier.

They didn't. At least not to the point that I could relax with the white packs.

I played a bit more and got to the Feversmth quest where you have to find altars and kill casters and warriors that are being summoned and on the first altar - I ripped.

Now, normally, I would go "Hey, I should have seen that coming. Let's start anew and avoid being stupid.", and at first that was what I did, but as I was typing the name of my second HC char, I stopped.

Thing is, I do not mind learning new mechanics, but in POE 1, it was possible to fight Kitava, Piety and that hooded angel with a beam without getting oneshotted, IF you built your char for HC (which for me is HP, armor and res, unless you have some build that centers around a special sustain node in the skill tree). So with a some luck, a lot of care and appropriate levels to the boss, you are often able to make it through to the other side (although I did die to Kitava and Piety the first time I fought them). I think I have more often, in POE1, died to rare elites than to bosses.

But now, as I were about to start my next character, I realised that I probably would die not just to ANY boss, but to white packs (and elites) as well. I do not have that many hours I can spend every week on playing POE2, and if I want to play this game like I always do (without having someone showing me the boss mechanics), it would have to be in SOFTCORE mode. I am simply not skilled enough to dodge every attack while trying to dps and experimenting with new skills. And after playing some more in SC, I realised that the biggest difference between POE1 and POE2 (at this point), is that the initial acts require a "new" HC player to gear up like it was act 5+ in POE1. You need the resistances. You need the HP/armor. And you need skills.

When I fought the cemetery boss (after the gate), I had to cheese it by kiting it around the monument. The Executioner was way easier when I had 40%+ fire res, some proper armor and used the enfeeble curse (with damage support). He wouldn't oneshot me and I got past him. The endboss of act1 (Werewolf) was hard, until I learned how to use my HP potion conservatively, used aoe skills (elemental and curse) + chaos dmg bolt (forgotten name of skill) and focused on killing adds with the bone skill that summons scorpions.

Point is - the game is hard, even on SC.

But then again as some have pointed out, POE2 is in early access, and as such, there are tweaks to be made. This game has probably not taken HC balance into account (if you go in blind, maybe you are not supposed to be able to do that and make it to endgame), and the purpose of the release to the public is most likely to get feedback on gameplay, mechanics, skill balance etc. The game is still missing weapons, 3 acts and several skills.

Focus on the bad as well as the good and share the experiences online so that the devs know what to look into. But remember - this is early access.

And with that, I am going to start my 7th HC witch, but this time I will grind some socketed armour so I can insert the resistance gems that I have found. I might also grind some extra levels to increase my chances of survival.

Enjoy the game, or not - you have a choice (and it is free).

Tried melee, feels terrible.

Game feels overtuned.

I'm too soft.

Guess this is gonna be a hard pass.

Feelsbadman

I tried warrior and I feel the same lmao. In its current state this is not the game for me. I'm too old for this crap.

I felt the "I'm too old for this crap" part... my carpal tunnel does not like the game.
Level 25 Sorc in Act 2, struggling with the Ascension quest. Took me 15 tries to kill Geonor, constantly trying to tune my frost build. It's clearing mobs well enough but boss fights are long.

Anyone know any good sites that are discussing builds? Not the BS MOBA builds that are thrown together by randos.
Im too soft too. Feels like they made it overly difficult.Characters die aloI play games for fun not this frustrating game play. I loved POE1 this is a no
I don't even particularly like hard games, but this one is great. People just need to get used to the fact that PoE 2 requires fundamentally a vastly different approach. More mechnical gameplay skills, for one.
