Hard crashing PC locks up
I decided to fully format my computer and install Windows 23H2
Guide here: https://pureinfotech.com/download-windows-11-23h2-iso-after-24h2/ I'm tired of waiting ... I'll let you know if this has made the freezing disappear as I expected. Last edited by Waiden#9514 on Dec 11, 2024, 7:25:49 PM

" Many of us have already tried. Doesn't work for everyone. There simply is no magic solution we can do. It's all in GGG's hands. |
|
Don't know if I have this same issue, as many associate it with windows 11, and I'm on 10, and I mostly have crash to desktop and have not had total crash of PC. But I have constant stuttering and cpu usage spikes in the time I'm able to play.

" I think people are just disappointed how GGG is dealing with this situation, 200 pages here and they started gathering DXdiags on 5th day, thats not good |
|
" They said, they've already been looking into the issue before they posted, that it would be helpful if more people would send their DXDiags. It's very unusual for a game to be able to freeze windows, so it's probably not easy to find and fix the cause of it. |
|
" The issue has existed for years. Two single dev comments are not sufficient to communicate to people to send in their dxdiags. Frankly, they should already be collecting this information automatically on crashes. They haven't done that, for whatever reason, so they should widely broadcast the need for players to send their dxdiags clearly instead of hiding it in two little comments that you have to know exist and then go search for in order to even send them your information, and then have to hope that it actually goes through. That's completely asinine. |

" I'm in the same boat. I agree. And what's really disheartening is reading posts saying GGG has actually been dealing with this same issue in PoE 1 for a year? Some absurd amount of time. Am I to take that as like, they have a design flaw with their engine but can't really "fix" it? So they have to constantly patch the same thing? Is it something they just never fixed? I'm no tech expert, but GGG is also shadily silent. Basically, it feels like I paid $100 to not play a game. You could say I paid $100 for the "privilege" to beta test a game. But I can't even do that because the game doesn't work? Ultimately a terrible first impression. The lack of any real statement about this specific problem just adds to the bad feels. |
|
" Good decision :) Just make sure auto-update wont go to 24 if thats an option. I had this freeze also in poe1 and did win10 for now and there are no freezes (i play everyday since EA), crashes still occur though sometimes. At this point I'm really curious what will be the result of investigation. Last edited by piotrektt#6808 on Dec 11, 2024, 8:00:40 PM

wanted to chime in and add my experience to the list: Was not crashing on launch weekend, but since monday my whole PC freezes up like 8-10 times a night. I have to cut off the PC from power to even restart.
Glad I am not the only one with these extreme issues |

People on the steam forum have used the following band-aid to at least avoid crashes, so hopefully GGG will see this and get to the root cause of the workaround to fix this.
Adjusting Multi-threading Open POE2, open task manager, find path of exile 2 in the list, right click it and go details. Then in the next list right click it and select affinity. Then in the new popup window untick CPU 0 and CPU 1 (unticking 1 didn't fix the issue). This will force POE2 to leave 2 cores for the system when it does its lockups, meaning it doesn't crash. |
