Why would you want to clear the caches? Wouldn't you want to fill them up so the CPU isn't constantly re-compiling them, and thus, reduce the constant CPU spikes? Just curious.
Suppose deleting and recompiling the shaders constantly 'fixes' the freeze issues. In that case, it hints at a serious problem with how existing shaders are loaded into memory, accessed in memory or on disk, or a combination of those processes.
All I know, after disabling cores 0 and 1 for the PathofExileSteam.exe process, thereby enabling the machine to kill the process and recover: CPU usage spikes to 100% on all cores whenever a freeze occurs.
I am testing a switch to Vulkan and periodic shader deletion.

Unless you bring solid evidence to the table related to this specific issue, just saying "it has to be bad" has no concrete foundation and only brings confusion.
Thank you.
Imagine how much of a loser you have to be to repeatedly come into a thread where people are experiencing full system crashes, to belittle, mock and downplay the severity of their issues. Like you could be playing the game but you choose to waste your time doing this?
Stop posting these braindead takes. People absolutely can damage their hardware with crashes like these and that stuff isn't always immediately apparent. This stuff has been on going for months and is effecting more and more people/systems by the day. If you aren't someone experiencing these problems, nobody needs your useless opinion.
I'm experiencing the full system freeze as well, hence that's why I monitor this thread. I don't know why you extrapolate information nor why you get angry. I'm not downplaying anything, this is a serious issue that has been acknowledged, they're collecting data and actively working on it. Given the vast amount of people reporting the full pc freeze and almost no one reporting bricking and linking it directly to the issue, from the information we have, repeatedly saying it without any knowledge nor evidence is just adding noise that is not helpful.
But thank you for your input anyway.
^ Computer genius that doesn't understand hard crashes and power issues can damage hardware.
Maybe you got called out because you're a dingus telling people this can't harm their system. You've posted it repeatedly in both threads. Stop spreading misinformation.

Stop pretending you're a high level software engineer. If you actually were one, you'd know exactly how power cuts affect hardware. You can simply google "power cuts affecting hardware" and get more than enough results to see how that actually happens. Spoilers: they don't necessarily physically damage your hardware, mister software engineer.
I and you were talking about bug checks (system halt). When it happens it doesn't affect your hardware, only power ups.

Power is the #1 cause of all hardware failure
It is. But not BSODs.

POE which caused hardware failure
If we're talking about this specific failure we don't know exact reason of the system collapse. Bug Checks may or may not be related to hardware. Page faults in non-paged area for example cause the bug checks. But in general, if user mode application affects (damages) hardware there is something wrong with the setup. HAL completely isolates ring 3 applications from the hardware and it fails in case of some serious issues related to the OS / drivers / UEFI. In the normal situation user mode programs doesn't affect the system stability even if they consume all available resources and / or cause unhandled exceptions. We're not using MS DOS or Windows 3.x.

Pretty sure I didn't post in the other thread lol. And I'm not saying that it cannot harm their system, I'm just saying the factual evidence that as for now, we do not have sufficient evidence to state that it does. I'm going to stop feed you know, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about, are emotional and resort to insults to fail to prove your point.
Have a good rest of your day, I hope that your pc doesn't spontaneously burst into flame lol.

And if you have been paying attention to the thread the problem isn’t a bsod, the system hard locks up and doesn’t generate a BSOD or error in event viewer, the only way to recover is holding the power button.

Played yesterday for about 5 hours with 3 complete PC crashes in loading screens. No amount combination of key inputs would unlock it. The days from launch I have had issue with game locking up but not my PC until yesterday.
Today I tried to just load in my character 4 separate times and my entire computer locked up all 4 times. I have read several complaints about other players experiencing this issue but none where the game wont even load after character select on back to back attempts. It feels like the optimization is getting worse in my case instead of improving by the day. I do not know how to access a bug report for this issue considering the computer needs to be completely hard reset from the power button so I don't know how helpful this post is..

If you want to be technical, you could consider a corrupt SSD "harming your system." Anytime you crash you can corrupt a hard drive. Some guy claimed to have his SSD fail after a crash. Could be lying. Probably trying to assassinate GGG's fine character.
Anyway, for what it's worth - I stopped playing after the third crash because of the random resetting of my AIO pump immediately upon freezing. Temps and usage spike, AIO turned off and I would shut down the PC. Since then I have a weird buzzing sound coming from my pump. Very feint. Probably not "damage." But also could be. I have no way of knowing. :)

just had it 3 times in 10 mins, frustrating expirience at new low.
regarding 100+ pages on this topic, i would apprichiate a more frequent GGG Dev update here. just one post ain't doing it.
my guess problem is identified. no fault on players side. solution contradicts with game engine and need more ressources and time to fix it then GGG can or want to offer at this time. but 100+ pages are 100+ pages YET in half a week

The point is we don't need new evidence to know that hard crashes and power issues can cause hardware damage. It's obvious to anyone with a brain.
