So is discussing/talking about RMT allowed? (Talking != doing it)

Looking at your profile one must wonder if you even play the game, or what the reasons are for you not posting with your actual account if indeed you play the game. Or maybe you just want to whip up some drama / dissent?

Whatever your motives are, the "big truth" is that companies make... money? How do you think they develop the game lmao.

I have no beef with companies making money but F2P games and microtransaction have the worse monetization policy. "Free to Play model really hurt gaming" or the "Free to Play Model is fine"? You can be the defender of their monetization policy.

You know why F2P games are so popular? Because they make the most amount of money. Also everyone can play the game for free or spend money if they want, its their choice. No one forces them to spend money, unlike in B2P or P2P games.
Its not model that hurt gaming. Its people who spend money on those games.

The only objectionable practice in GGG's otherwise fair monetization for the game are the Mystery Boxes. The whole psychology behind them is bad for the customer. Having variable reward schedules (unlike fixed rewards like direct purchases; put in 50 points, receive MTX of choice) is essentially exploitation of the human psyche.

They are completely optional however and I shall abstain. They also make it a point to add the contents to the store the coming season to reduce FOMO. I guess we'll have to wait for the EU to pull some levers as they have done before when it comes to customer protection as some people are vulnerable to these.

Apart from that I agree wholeheartedly that for a F2P title PoE is very fair in monetization

Stas of Mystery Boxes are public. You can check what you can get and what is the chance of each item. THey also removed FOMO part from them. Only mystery boxes that are banned in EU are those with hidden stats etc, because its considered predatory.
However, seeing what is going on in CHina recently, we might see mystery boxes be removed from gaming industry entirely.
The only reason they sell that MTX via mystery boxes is because the system works. :D

Players love gambling. Thats why things like unid items, cards etc are so expensive.

Market of B2P or P2P games will shrink and F2P and microtransaction market will expand. F2P market simply more lucrative than B2P or P2P games.

Thank you for repeating my words. Did you ask yourself why is it more lucrative tho? Because people spend money. If you allow someone to spend 1k$, instead 50$, they will do so, and you dont even need to force them. But F2P games are also much more customer friendly because you can try out the game out w/o investing anything other than your time. F2P games are more profitable, but also more popular. F2P games are win-win for both sides.

While comapnies like GGG create a singular product and keep expanding it over a decade, you also have developers like Larian Studios, CDPR, Squenix etc. who make great single-player B2P titles. Furthermore, indie games are booming.

At the same time people rightfully call out bad practices by developers and push back on games like Diablo Immortal, Overwatch 2, Fifa, CoD.. you name them. But the gaming market is big and some people like those games.

I'll gladly take PoE over any of the mentioned titles from the last paragraph.

Profit driven not customer friendly. People play F2P because they are free. For every thousand of terrible F2P games, there is 1 possibly good F2P games. Then again people will play terrible games because it is free.

"It's No Wonder This Game Was Free, It's Terrible!" - random person.
