I believe Chris Wilson mentioned, that a lot of these updates in PoE2 will be implemented before the game releases. Pretty sure he said that at exilecon 2019. Anyways, that is my prediction :D

Is this even on the table anymore? I'd be very surprised if the whole old campaign gets a makeover at this point. I could even see it getting shafted completely tbh. I don't think GGG wants all the streamers or racers playing it again if it's faster.

Look. I get it. Pandemic happened, it seriously undermined Grinding Gears' workflow, shit happened.

My objection is not that it took 5+ years to get to this point.

My objection is that it's going to take multiple MORE years before we get any hint of Path of Exile 2. They're announcing the announcement of the announcement at ExileCon the Second and tryin'a get everybody riled up for a thing we won't get until...what? '26? '27?

There's only so often they get to do this to me before I just force myself to stop caring and move on to a different game. I haven't played Diablows Mour because I don't care for Blizzard as a company given their stance on women and LGBT+ folks and also I'm not a huge fan of the core gameplay loops in the game...but fuck. If Grinding Gear won't give me anything worth doing until next year's next year, why shouldn't I go back to struggle bussing in the Elden Ring arena, or joining literally everyone else I know in trying out Diablows? Peer pressure's a thing, after all. Hell, in a few months Armored Core 6 is gonna drop and Grinding Gear will fade to a distant memory.

They could have had my attention and excitement, but instead opted to wait ANOTHER two years. It's their pattern now - talk about PoE2, wait two years, talk about PoE2, wait two years...

For many segments of economy absolutely. Game Development, I'm not convinced, not even remotely convinced. Many big companies like Bungie and Blizzard leveraged existing technologies to not miss a beat. Some inconveniences sure, but GGG leagues and operations during that pandemic timeframe were essentially normal.

Maybe you could make a case filling open jobs from a labor perspective was difficult, but everyone in the industry was in the same boat.

I'm not buying some sort of multi-year delay on COVID, and GGG has never indicated that was the case either. That's some extreme speculation without much evidence imo.

I'm surprised anybody thought PoE 2 release would be announced at ExileCon. Someone asked Bex about the beta, and all she said was "there will be demos at the ExileCon". My theory is that closed betas are about to begin, or maybe just alpha.

Also I feel like there's going to be a lot more to the game than just the sockets revamp and the new campaign. I've been speculating a hard reset. with the removal of league mechanics. Pardon me if they already confirmed that that's happening. It's of course just my own pet thoughts. fueled by paranoia.

I really doubt they are going to remove the league mechanique. They are nerfing the one after the other always getting some backlash from it. If they are to remove them you might as well not do that and wait until the hard reset.

I think it's smart for a little delay. If it's launched in a year or so a lot of new D4 fanboys might be tired of the game if Blizz does not keep updating the content...and now new seasons require fresh chars? Think I just read that...

If it's not coming out end of year or early next year then this exilecon feels a tad like a scam. If the full game is playable then it can't be that far from being done.

Jumping off point for marketing can mean a ton of different things. It could just mean that they are going to really start pushing marketing with a full fledge release date. With a beta coming out for players to give feedback.
