Why is there no auction house in POE?

Honestly, i hope they NEVER implement one. Enough with the auction house posts already. They do not belong in arpg's.

Honestly. I hope they do one day, so you can see how much better the game can actually be.

There is no functional difference between the AH on the path of exile website, then having one in game, other than trying to pretended that you don't have an AH already. This is the heart of the issue.

It is almost the same, but the current implementation is sucky - slow, unreliable and wastes your time.

Just because D3 FAILED having a AH, don't mean POE will fail. The problem is chris doesn't want to try it... I know WHY!! less sales for premium tabs. God forbid not making money on tabs...

Yes clearly despite the fact that there is no functional difference between early d3 and poe it will not fail because some dude said so on the forum.
I came over from XBOX where there was at least some sort of an auction house in game .. while it wasnt super optimized back when I played it a year ago it was still there and IT WORKED..

I just downloaded POE on PC and after playing for an hour found out there is nothing similar on PC?? Instant uninstall for me

I enjoyed browsing the auction house and buying things.. i dont even want to begin to think how annoying it would be to have to manually message people.. lets be honest many of us play games because we dont want to deal with talking with people lol
I don't have anything against the trading system, Im just tired of going in and out to sell something and tired of price fixers. I would like to have AH just to rid of price fixers.

It would be better than the absolute disaster of a trading system we have now.

I seriously wonder where this sentiment comes from. There's not a single ARPG (that I'm aware of) in the history of ARPG that has implemented an AH with success. During the development of ARPG, we see - time after time - that trading is a hot topic - and a nightmare to balance/implement for the developers.

I think it's almost historyless and pretty narrow to just say "an AH will be so much better", and I suspect it's created from a personal bubble based on "I just want to sell my gear easier". It's ESPECIALLY narrow using "AH" as some kind of answer, without specifying what you mean by "AH". Do you want auctions? Off-line trading? What?
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
D1 and D2 were too old to have an AH, D3 had one and abandoned it. Other than that what ARPGs with relevant size are there on the market? POE, LE and Grim Dawn, the latter being a pure single player game and LE also tends towards that direction.

So while the statement "no ARPG has successfully implemented an AH" is technically true it's also kinda worthless because there is only a tiny number of ARPGs on the market that have enough of a player base to even bother and most of those that might have enough players are mostly or purely single player. The only example of a game even trying is D3 and there are tons of other factors in play there.

Comparing POE to MMOs who pretty much always have auction houses has it's own flaws but it's likely what most people are referencing to that in terms of experience. There is likely also just a massive amount of frustration involved with how horrible trading is in this game so that people tend to think "anything is better than this".
