Annual reminder that XP loss on death is bad design.

Stop equating everything being handed to you to fun.

lol, stop thinking everyone has the same idea of fun.

i dont judge people for playing hardcore/ssf/softcore. different people have different tastes.

i bet that no one complaining about the xp loss is on HC. they know what they want and they know what they like.

Exactly this, people who play SC don't enjoy losing their exp, which is why so many threads about this keep popping up again and again and again. All exp loss does is drain all your motivation to even play the game, especially if you went from like 80% in a high 90+ level in a day to 0% to random deaths. Then you're like "why did I even play today? All my progress is gone." It literally makes me not want to play the game and ruins my mood for the whole day.

back when i played LE. i wasnt getting loot that i want. once in a while i died and in LE failing a map once means losing the potential map rewards.

but i kept playing. one key reason is because i was still gaining experience. i was still getting stronger. sure my build sucked but that motivated me to push on.

on the flipside POE can be rage inducing as you literally LOST something. theres a reason why i dont play ultimatum or heist or hardcore. i dislike losing something.

and i will repeat myself. getting to 100 10 years ago is different from now. where it used to mean something. now its just part of the process.

Exactly, I also tried out Season 3 in LE and I died in maps randomly, but felt no negative emotions. Because I was still gaining exp and getting skill points for my main abilities aswell. I even failed a lot of crafting on items and lowered em to 0 Crafting Potential, but it didn't feel bad. Because the system is fair, I was ok with farming more items to try and craft them. I died to a few special echoes for skill points, but guess what. I was able to retry them later with better gear and completed them all. And it felt good. I was still making some kind of progress, so it didn't feel meaningless. This is all players are asking for, their progress to not be robbed by the game.

And yeah, the whole reason I play SC is because I don't like the very concept of losing progress on death, which exp loss does by deleting hours of your time.

When a game is built to not be so against the player, there is actually enjoyment to be had. What a crazy concept that is. Turns out a game can be fun without being overly punishing towards the player.
Last epoch death penalty felt 100x worse than poes to me. If i was traveling through the monolith, died. then had to do a map for stability instead of like 70 it felt like a waste of time.

I would rather have an xp loss. When you have an xp loss your character lost something. When you remove those rewards from the monolith you are effectively taking away the point of doing that node yet you still need to do it if you need to path through it. Wasting your time in a worse way.

In poe, say you're level 95. You dont really plan on leveling up more because its not that big of a deal being 95 or 100. You die and use another portal. Nothing changes, you just go into the map. The only time it matters in poe is when you are actively trying to level. Most people just call 91-92-93-94 the level cap. That cap is denoted by your willingness to play a good build and level, play well and level, or pay someone else to level you. Unless you're willing to do one of the 3 you get to be "capped" at lower than 100.

perfectly fair point. you prefer the death penalty than losing the reward/map progress/stability.

so how about this. everything in poe stays the same but no death penalty.

While were at it why cant we have an omen that just teleports us to town if we reach 0 hp and our characters dont receive a death so we never die in hc.
+1

There is ZERO reason for there not be an option for this.

Casual - No XP loss, 5% less exp
Standard - XP loss
Hardcore - No change

The ONLY reason it would not be an option is stubborness at this stage.

Dev team needs to remember games are about fun and enjoyment, not making your players want to uninstall due to poor game design & an unwillingness to adapt.
Dbl post please delete ty.

honestly i would want the game to just open a tp on death by default.

as for no death on HC, lmao dude. people dont like death penalty and you're being petty about it.

why such elitism. NO ONE thats asking for the death penalty to be removed are playing hardcore.

if i m being real many of my friends dont LIKE hardcore. we respect our time a great deal more. but we dont make fun of hardcore players. i respect them in fact. they play the game in a way that forces them to make everything matter.

softcore players just want to have fun. cheer up abit. what do YOU specifically lose with this removal of the death penalty?

the only thing i can think of is elitism. heck. free xp parties exist. if we want to be so hardcore, you should make a new suggestion saying parties shouldnt give players XP.

also we might as well request for untainted paradise to be removed from the game as its "tOo EaSy" lmao.
