How Secrets of the Atlas Launch Went

What I don't get if it's DDOS attacks is how if I'm on EU servers the instance server crashes and I get rolled back but if I'm US servers the instance server doesn't crash and I don't get rolled back.

Now add on top that some streamers you watch doesn't seem to be affected at all by this even if they are playing on EU servers.

There's something with this DDOS narrative that just doesn't make sense at all.

Streamers are the golden children of GGG, I wouldn't be surprised if they are provided with private instance servers with server IP unknown to DDOS maintainers. Only instance server matters here, streamer can remain fully in the same league as common players otherwise.

I'm not sure you investigated the real problem: the update code. The mac client is unusable since the the update:

Uninstall, clean the computer for any PoE files, restarting, and then reinstalling it doesn't solve this problem. The file is simply damaged.

And yes, everything worked prior Secrets of the Atlas, so questions like "is your OS updated?", "does your computer have a proper hardware for PoE to work?", "do you have enough space?", "are you connected to the internet?" don't need to be asked.

I wouldn't suggest anything like that without some evidence of it. I'm more asking if anything could be overlooked based on the assumption that it's just DDOS as it just doesn't add up. It's not like that would be a first in human history where you find one cause and assume that's the only one when in reality there's multiple causes.

Idk if the people who're posting streamers aren't having have issues are actually ever watching streamers. A lot of streamers had issues, Ziz mention bricking his map pool in his most recent video, due to dc's. Ghazzy, DM and Pohx to mention a few couldn't even play for a while on launch. I don't mind critique, but can we not do flat earthing unless we've got like really solid data that we are in fact living on a frisbee?

It's fine to complain when you're having a bad time, but lets do factual complaints and not just write something without doing the tiniest amount of legwork.

1+ Really love this and I totally agree.
If you could fix pantheon for PS5 it keeps crashing every time I select it that would be great. Multiple people have been complaining about this.
No word I see on the broken MacOS client, alas.
We are the bastard child....

DDOS is the only cause which can be flat impossible to fix if your game networking was designed 15 years ago and didn't account for DDOS protection compatibility. DDOS is also cheaper to maintain than most people think, attacker can only blast a few instance servers at a time, on a rotation, it is still enough to create massive player outrage without using a lot of bandwidth.

As for streamers, they are hired performers, and their job is to showoff your game from the best possible angle. That is, without disconnects every 10 minutes in a system where loot only gets saved on traveling through portal. As a developer who gets ddosed on a daily basis, how else would you solve the problem?

As for evidence, this is a forum, not a science journal. Even if there was a way to obtain evidence like looking at poe source code, I wouldn't bother with it for the sake of this forum. The simplest theory which accommodates for all known facts is usually the truth.
