How Secrets of the Atlas Launch Went
After 23-24 minutes on Friday I got in game and got to play for 30 minutes before my first disconnect, followed by a second one less than a minute later.
Day 2? couldn't play, ping was way, way too high. Day 3? got 2-3 hours in before disconnection. Today? 5 minutes before DC. At this point I'm considering giving up on the league. I'm not Ziz, I don't play the game for a living and the weekend is over. If everything worked perfectly, I wouldn't get as much time as I would have sunk in the weekend this entire week. And every day it's been the same story thus far so I don't see why I should bother trying any more. I like what I've seen from the league, but I'm really not convinced I should waste any more time trying to play it this league. And no, I don't care you're under a DDoS attack. The game either works or it doesn't. And if it doesn't? Plenty more games for me to install and play in my Steam library. Continuing to waste time trying PoE only to get disconnected and my character rolled back seems like a waste of time at this point. Why do an exercise in frustration when I could be having fun with other games? Sorry GGG but at the end of the day you're entertainment and at least from this European's perspective this league is compromised. I might come back in a month or two but for now it seems clear you can't actually make the game playable. Most likely: see you next league. |

" DDOS protection does not exist in the way you think it does. Not even Blizzard or Google are safe from DDOS attacks because there is simply no perfect way to deal with them. |

Please give us the option to mute other player's pet sounds. All the goblin's in the various towns are starting to drive me batty.

But hiding behind DDoS attack excuse for years is also not an excuse, as that is always the answer from GGG regarding the pathetic status of EU servers for YEARS. Not since 3.26, not last week, months, but YEARS. My last 3h gameplay: sit in hideout, wait for 15 mins to see if server is stable, go in a map, and right at the end lose everything because reroll... I've lost a maven fight at the last second, because reroll Waited 20 mins, went for shaper fight, right when i was about to start it, guess what reroll Waited another 15 mins, did 2 guardian map, guess what, reroll... How can you play the game, if it gets rerolled all the time. And not just reroll, because with reroll i would be fine. But nononono, it just destroys your instance, meaning you lose everything you put into it, but the reroll doesnt give you back the resources you wasted on the map but eats up everything you earned. Used fragments? F U Used unique map? F U Engaged with league mechanic? F U Dare to juice a map? Ohohoh, F U^2 But im sure if you buy 10 more supporter packs, DDoS would go away, instantly ... |

From the feedback you can see that main issue is not even the disconnects, it's the "rollbacks", or more specifically, the account DB being updated only after you portal to hideout, not when you pick up stuff in map. If you portal back every time you pick up a div, you will keep it after next disconnect. Given how long those disconnects are present, and the magnitude of the issue, I'd say reworking how items are saved had been warranted. For several months now. Even though it is obviously costly and complex. GGG has deliberately chosen not to fix those "rollbacks" after drawbacks of the current system had been exposed by DDOS. So I don't feel them being innocent victims in this situation. Repeating "its not us, its the DDOS" for months straight isn't a responsible attitude.
