Why do you even play Path of Exile nowadays?

Lootboxes unfortunately became pretty much industry standard, you cannot hide from them. I dislike them, and left couple games because of them, but finally made my peace with their existence. I understand that they are probably best from effort/profit proportion point of view, and telling myself that developers/designers can spend more time on game itself.

To one day have a collection as Karcaroth, Lunndril or other big market players. One can dream. In my opinion there are a lot of items that you can chase after.
I recently came back to Path of Exile and I must say I like the new additions to the game. I am not much a fan of how the full storyline was concluded with the implementation of 10 acts BUT addition of masters such as Niko, Einhar and Alva are very welcome. For me it is relaxing to smash my way through hordes of monsters in all ways possible and gather loot in the process. Hopefully in the future there will be guild-based missions so that guilds can compete with one another. Heart of Purity

With a job and limited play time, I still find aspects challenging, and most of all :fun.

Most PoE players are game addicts. That's why the W.H.O. had added Path of Exile to its growing list of computer addiction games. Very soon many countries will also either regulate loot/mystery boxes (its just another form of gambling) or totally ban them.
But seriously, if Chris has his way and imitates "the other Wilson" and DOUBLES the xp required and content difficulty going from level 90 to 100 then the OP is right. It's GAME OVER MAN! "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. I very highly doubt now that the majority of Path of Exile players have climbed the life ladder so high that they can comfortably play Path of Exile for thousands of hours without it seriously negatively impacting their lives. Path of Exile and Warframe are truly troublesome games which breed people into loneliness & miserable life. Once that is achieved, you have to stay in the game because you simply don't have anything else. Neither can everyone stream on Twitch full time successfully or have the mental fortitude / autism levels of Asmongold. You will not find a game on Steam that has a higher average game time per reviewer than Path of Exile. Fortnite does not affect my tribes so I simply don't really care about it. I'm also not trying to make the world a better place with spreading the word. Just curious, nothing else! But if you want my opinion then I see that addicted adults are far more dangerous to themselves than teenagers due to stagnation of life being a lot easier to succumb to and a lot harder to get out of. I personally barely play games anymore - typically Street Fighter V ~3-7 hours per week with mostly people in real life. " For me, because there's no other alternative games that I can play during my extra time. Before I have 2 other Blizzard games that I played when I don't want to play POE anymore, but I stop playing there games after the Diablo mess to spite them. I tried other ARPG & other games but they either feel unfinished or different to my liking. So for now, I could say I'm stuck with POE. But that might change after Feb 22. That other new looter game have a potential for me, and I hope it live up to my expectation.
