Why do you even play Path of Exile nowadays?

You haven't played for 6 months but you sure know lots about its current state.
Yes you can read about it but that's not the same thing as playing it.
Neither is watching a streamer.

HH is definitely not as common as you make it sound, neither does the exalt ratio interest anyone except the flippers.
Botters will always be there.

Playing for the same reason as always; for fun.
I don't like everything about the recent changes, like zana rework, but overall there's more to do than ever.
Pass the time. I could be grading papers I guess.

I think we play PoE for the same reason anyone plays any game.

FOR FUN.

Insane, right?

I'm really glad that the first response was the one that always should kill threads like this :p its a recreational activity if its not fun go do something else.

Could it be better? Of course, do I still enjoy it? So far yep

I played Diablo 2 for 12ish years when there were no major content updates for more than the latter half of that time (chaos tristram was introduced in 2005). If an ARPG is fun and keeps having ladder resets that's enough for me lol.

Powercreep is real but I trust that they're interested in continuing to upgrade endgame in the future.

That's kinda the question here - What is fun nowadays in PoE?

You aren't necessarily competing with anyone anymore in any aspect to need a ladder reset. From markets to bosses to services; you cannot deny that everything has become less exciting and the knowledge / skill gaps have been streamlined.

As an example you can easily assume that I like very intense environments; Path of Exile used to be a lot more intense as well. That was the fun! My real life is very intense as well and in gaming I get my intensity from Street Fighter 5 now.

I just took 30 minutes to check the top Reddit posts of past 3 months.
HH is definitely a lot more common than it was a year ago. A looooooooot.
Botter don't always have to be there, many games have beaten that challenge through various methods.

Is more things to do more fun? Quantity more important than quality now?

You sure about that? All your games happen to have a pretty strong use of Skinner Box and I could write you a book about psychological manipulation in Warframe.

Otherwise honest points!

You seem burnt out. It's OK. It's also OK to have "outgrown" the game. You've been playing for years, know everything, mastered everything. Of course everything will seem trivial to you.

I legitimately feel that I have not outgrown. It's not some heresay that the game a year ago was a lot more difficult? I played it actively for 6 months. I just don't like the game at all in it's current state.
I look at it and think WHY should I even play it?

I don't get any... you know... SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT. If everyone has already what I have, then it's obviously not special. Or tell me then what is this big thing to chase now then?

I can absolutely deny that, hahah. Prove me wrong by making an uber elder service in hardcore. Farming uber elder in softcore on a 6.7hp character is exciting enough for me, and making a new build each league that can do it is great. I was happy enough to just remake a single smite paladin or skelly+revive necro to clear chaos tristram in my last years of player d2 ladder, but in this game you can do all sorts of nonsense!

As far as I remember people don't play HC anymore since Delve because of "must have all 50 layers of defense" pr0 b@l@nce RNG screen clutter dogfest one shots.
I've already proven myself, feel free to look me up.

Why did you ever play it to begin with? Did you really enjoy Reave stat-stick melee builds that much?

I played it mostly because:

I played it only 50% of the time.

Delve was great for HC because it promoted a large group of builds that were considered shit by HC standards, it gave an alternate goal - chances are your character that was great at Uber Elder wouldn't be as good at delve as a variety of other builds.

This league though? Holy shit I'm glad I skipped for once :P
