You might want to read the rest of my post, you'll realize this isn't a pro SFL argument at all :)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Trading is not optional, but flipping certainly is. Some people act like you have to spam trade chat 24/7 to get anywhere in PoE, that's simply not true. Make a shop with buyouts (takes literally 2 minutes with Procurement) and trade your lower currency which you will inevitably find in massive amounts to alchs/chaos via the noticeboard (again, takes literally 2 minutes). Now you have more than enough currency to roll maps and buy most pre god-tier upgrades. And you don't have to cry about trading because you waste maybe 0.5% of your time on it. If you still cry about it, you're just looking for excuses and want 'moar drops!!'.

Lol, so, set up your shop using 3rd party software so it can be listed on a 3rd party site, and use the party system to advertise your wares in-game. That sound about right?

That's just good game design right there.

Chris had said that community sites help them focus on other things in the Hedgemony/Aux interview. If XYZ wasn't around there would be an integrated search, perhaps not with buyouts but we would have something. Same with things provided on the wiki, it saves adding it to the main site.

And you don't need to use procurement to list buyouts, you can do it manually and bump your trade thread to get it seen. YOU don't need to use anything 3rd party.

Are you just grabbing at anything now?

Trade is a mechanic, if you don't use it at least sparingly you are gimping yourself.

So? It's not about good or bad game design, it's about progressing in the game with barely any time investment into trading. Which is exactly what I described. No excuses pls.

It rather seems like you are grabbing at anything now since what he says about 3rd party sites and the party board is just a de-glorified version of what Xav said.

No, not just grabbing at anything, friend. I've thought for well over a year that setting up RNG layering to promote trade, then having a clusterfuck trade system, is just a bad idea. It was around that time that the first mention of new and improved trading was mentioned by Chris. Here we are, around 14 months later. Still waiting for it.

And yeah, hadn't heard about that interview. Sounds like bullshit. Kinda like how games are released, and it's left to modders to fix them up and balance them out properly.

I've done the trade game. It was profitable, but it's just fucking annoying having to drop what you're doing to collect a couple orbs. It's annoying to have to maintain a shop. Fuck, it's annoying to have to use Procurement just to find a fucking gem (what would be so bad about a TQ style sort button, anyway?). That's not how I want to play an ARPG. I want focus on killing shit. If I'm expected to trade, fine. Give me a competent system.

Hopefully they'll be able to deliver that with their new system, or at least the community will be able to hook into it to make it competent (which kinda sucks, but so it goes).

Even if your completely correct here, it changes nothing about why I am interested in a SFL.

Trading is still vastly better than finding/crafting.

Is it just Americans who say could care less instead of couldn't care less? I've heard this in TV shows and stuff, so strange.
