GGGs reasoning on not making a SFL?

Trading is not optional. Now at level 83 my only options to improve my build are:

A unique chest that would save me literally 37 skill points which I could invest in more defense and offense.
A unique helm that would up my DPS by a lot.
Two empower gems, which I don't have.

I could play for 1000 hours and still not find the chest that I am looking for, which is the most important upgrade and not really that expensive on xyz. Is that endgame? I may just as well reroll.
You're wrong. I can prove it. Post your skill tree and gear. (edit: Actually, I'm about to pass out, so you have time. But do it anyway.)
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Where to begin?.....

Well for starters being largely a newb to PoE only being around a month or so now,I can say I dont find the game to be nearly as burn out inspiring as say Torchlight 2, which frankly is the game Id suggest to any ARPG fan who prefers solo play and the ability to mod the game to suit their various desires.

I am really enjoying the way PoE plays, I also enjoy the way trading doesnt feel needed, but clearly gives those who are willing to actually be social with others, talk, banter, barter, haggle, and eventually either find a price both are happy with, or neither are and they go on their seperate ways.

To my mind that is actually the preferred way, I frankly hate auction houses, and set up in game shop stand type trade systems.

Personally I dont really buy the well if we just had an SFL league of our own we would then want to spend on PoE.

I put in over a hundred hours my first month according to steam, so I then thought well hey Ive spent 60 bucks on games ive gotten maybe at most 30-40 hours out of, I think PoE has earned a payday from me. 40 bucks isnt a huge deal sure, but I am not at all bitter about spending, feel good knowing Ive made a modest contribution to the guys making this gem of a game, and dont think for one moment its about paying into the future of the game, I am paying for what I have already been given freely, days worth of quality ARPG entertainment. I could never play another minute of PoE and my money would still be well spent as I as I said payed not for what I might get, but for what I had been given. I payed not because of need, but because of gratitude. For I likely shall for many years fondly recall some of the more fun moments of my play time here.

Frankly I say this to any who have put many an hour into PoE and not dropped a dime claiming its not good enough. If its given you even 20-30 hours of playtime youve enjoyed, and you havent dropped a dime here while buying other games to play as well, your just ungrateful for what was offered freely and in good faith.

The easiest way to look at the point of view of those who are against a SFL is that they are thinking "If you want a league that has better drop rates to fix certain issues in the game, why the hell do you want a new league for it? You can play self found in regular leagues just fine, just fix the loot in all leagues." That is usually the one thing everyone can agree on.

The thing is, I think loot is perfectly balanced when you trade. You find enough to get by early levels, and by later levels you can build enough currency to keep progressing. If you or anyone else can think of a method that would 'fix' the itemisation in lategame without breaking the game when you trade, I would immediately back that idea 100%.

Thats exactly it, the further i go with 1 char i already feel like i need outside "help" in the form of trading or im stuck and cant progress further or at the best much slower. Increasing low tier orb drops would not break the ingame "economy" it would just readjust it.

Great points. While I would actually prefer "fixes" to be implemented in all leagues (so I wouldn't have to start from scratch and the current 4 leagues structures would stays the same), sometime I feel it might be simpler to create a new league than trying to balance between self-found and trading in the same league.

I'd like fixes for self-found but I don't want to screw traders in the process.
No response yet from GGG after all if they do SFL they wont be able to sell their MTX (orbs of regret and such).

Yeah, not sure why would think this. Self found would still have town instances and still allow people to group up. Not sure how that would negatively affect MTX. The part about orbs of regret only applies in Garena, which is not a part of GGG's servers.

Come back when you have been playing for years like some of us in here.

Trading is not optional, but flipping certainly is. Some people act like you have to spam trade chat 24/7 to get anywhere in PoE, that's simply not true. Make a shop with buyouts (takes literally 2 minutes with Procurement) and trade your lower currency which you will inevitably find in massive amounts to alchs/chaos via the noticeboard (again, takes literally 2 minutes). Now you have more than enough currency to roll maps and buy most pre god-tier upgrades. And you don't have to cry about trading because you waste maybe 0.5% of your time on it. If you still cry about it, you're just looking for excuses and want 'moar drops!!'.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
