GGGs reasoning on not making a SFL?
" Yes some orbs should drop a little bit more frequently but this has less to do with SFL and more with crafting vs trading. |

" everyone can why don't you just play SF next league till high maps and see if you'd want to break keyboard and uninstall the game 76 academy ~110q +30magic vuln +30% extra damage curse immune lmp boss killed time wasted to roll it -- half a day time played for enjoyment -- half an hour maps dropped -- zero (obviously) Last edited by CCR5#7770 on May 2, 2014, 11:38:53 AM

" Orb drops or rng in crafting need a change then and not the implementation of an SFL. |

The easiest way to look at the point of view of those who are against a SFL is that they are thinking "If you want a league that has better drop rates to fix certain issues in the game, why the hell do you want a new league for it? You can play self found in regular leagues just fine, just fix the loot in all leagues." That is usually the one thing everyone can agree on.

" It's optional if you don't plan on getting to 73+ maps. It's optional if your build is as basic as it gets (Eg sword and shield or super basic caster). I would say trading becomes mandatory starting from something as simple as a two-handed sword build, and gets more and more necessary from there. Do you really think a viable self-cast discharge build is possible without trading? What about a max block build? How about a CI wander? Come to think of it, CI anything with decent clear speed. A good facebreaker build? A cold snap build? What about a cyclone build? A flicker strike build? Man I could go on for ages. Trading isn't mandatory if you want to play the game in the most basic way possible, which for me is the most boring way to play an ARPG and defeats the purpose of having all these cool possibilities. " The thing is, I think loot is perfectly balanced when you trade. You find enough to get by early levels, and by later levels you can build enough currency to keep progressing. If you or anyone else can think of a method that would 'fix' the itemisation in lategame without breaking the game when you trade, I would immediately back that idea 100%. " Probably should have mentioned it's not really how I feel. It's just me explaining one side to another. I have no problems with a SFL existing though I don't really want to push for one - as I said, you can enforce those rules on yourself anyway. I wouldn't complain about drop rates for more annoying things increasing (best unique I've ever gotten was a Kaom's Primacy in this league that I sold for like 15c, and that's after considering inflation from when Dream Fragments was the best), or lowering variance (no getting 66 maps in your 78). However, I also am and have always been an avid trader in PoE. I've been able to buy the most expensive items in the game and even mirrored the best chest in a league. It took a hell of a lot of effort to do so, but I farmed enough to just get currency and small rares and kept to a rule of never trading currency for any lower than market price, while never advertising like most flippers do in trade chat. If you actually focus on farming currency more than farming good uniques or rares, the game will treat you more kindly - but you won't have the random interval reinforcement GGG and other developers intend from their games. You'll instead have a continuous stream of small revenue that eventually builds up to being worth something. And I did all of this without magic find! I hate those two affixes with a passion. Do note that this is harder nowadays! There has been a lot of inflation as well as nerfs to farming. A lot of new uniques are worth absoutely stupid amounts of money, and mirrors went from being 70-100 GCP to 70+ Exalts, while GCP used to be 6 per Exalt (Ambush and old Softcore, respectively). |

" Thats exactly it, the further i go with 1 char i already feel like i need outside "help" in the form of trading or im stuck and cant progress further or at the best much slower. Increasing low tier orb drops would not break the ingame "economy" it would just readjust it. |

Trading is not optional. Now at level 83 my only options to improve my build are:
A unique chest that would save me literally 37 skill points which I could invest in more defense and offense. A unique helm that would up my DPS by a lot. Two empower gems, which I don't have. I could play for 1000 hours and still not find the chest that I am looking for, which is the most important upgrade and not really that expensive on xyz. Is that endgame? I may just as well reroll. i use a secret account because i am a politician that doesnt want the NSA to know i play poe.
