1.1.0 Patch Notes - Sacrifice of the Vaal
" So get some accuracy on gear! What do you think the Kongor's mace was designed for? RT is a thing of the past. |

" He wouldn't have asked if he knew... Anyways, another terrible nerf. NERF of Exile! Yay! IGN: DrunkBarbarian / SupernalScion

The reasoning behind the Crit Multi nerfs, is because of the Spell/Ele Damage Buffs. GGG has been afraid to buff Spell Damage, because of the ridiculous top-end scaling of Crit Multi, but that's made it so that Melee Builds have become far superior..
So nerfing Crit Multi was necessary for there to be buffs to Spell Damage, to bring it more in line with Melee, and to make spellcasters less forced into going Crit to be viable. @plasticeyes, that's specifically what Romira's Banquet was designed for, since Crit rolls against Evasion before Hit. It's meant to alleviate the need for Accuracy on a non-RT Mara. And that Vaal Pact nerf is interesting, probably necessary, especially with the ES Buffs. But I would have liked it's location moved a bit closer to the Ranger or Scion... PS. GGG completely disregarded the most important balance change imo, the Duelist's shirt. It needs to be removed, baring his chest for all the Scions to oogle at, and for men to not feel dainty when eye chances upon his visage. REAL men, do not wear "Shirts", heck REAL men, do not even wear PANTS! :O What I mean is, either remove his shirt, or allow us to place Micro-Trans on Chest while wearing BoR... <_< IGN: Golem_Antsy, Harvest Last edited by Sheriff_K#3938 on Mar 4, 2014, 11:56:26 AM

nerfing us the players, I get it, completely opposite as d3
:) , legacy items ftw |

" What about the removal of item quantity mods from rare/magic items, and removal of item quantity gems? PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. |

the "Reset all Passives" will be when the expansion is launched right?

" Finally, Marauder can kick some ass with 'standard' available weapons, without getting his ass spanked. (Hopefully) |
|
" First, the math isn't wrong. Second, Totems use your stats, so cast speed on equipment is not useless. Third, spell and elemental damage nodes throughout the tree have been increased. With the damage increases, and without having access to the tree to do any calculations, you have no idea whether the totem cast/attack speed change is a nerf or not. " i'll see if it is. i'm very excited about respecing my mara and will see if it can be done. last time i looked, it just wasn't feasible. too hard to get the crit nodes and too hard to get accuracy. and i call BS on accuracy on gear. my shadow has a _lot_ of dex AND a _lot_ of accuracy on gear and is only 88%. a mara would be _very_ hard pressed to get those kind of numbers. and then to have a 10% chance to crit ? absolutely not worth it. but a 20% chance to crit with a 2H weapon and 85% acc ? i could live with that... |

Can't wait to get started in the new invasion league. I know the effect of balance changes on builds causes a lot of distress but shaking up the metagame is necessary for the long term health of the game. The distinct impression that I get regarding GGG's balance strategy is that they collect analytics on how players have been playing and look for cases where players have been overwhelmingly selecting a single option for a certain situations like Vaal Pact, Bringer of Rain, Aegis shield, item quantity levelling uniques and so on. The changes might hurt but I believe GGG's plan is the retention of build diversity which again keeps the game healthy longer. I know I've seen 7 BoR characters in a single sarn instance before now and thought something probably needed tweaking.
