1.1.0 Patch Notes - Sacrifice of the Vaal

First, the match isn't wrong. Second, Totems use your stats, so cast speed on equipment is not useless. Third, spell and elemental damage nodes throughout the tree have been increased. With the damage increases, and without having access to the tree to do any calculations, you have no idea whether the totem cast/attack speed change is a nerf or not.
Lets say you have 80% increased cast speed.
Lets say totem support gem has 50% reduced cast speed and since 1.1 its multiplicative.
Even pre-school child can say that now you have 40% increased cast speed.

And those preschool children are wrong. You take the sum total cast speed, (180%) apply that to the base cast time, and then apply the 50% penalty. So it's actually an effective 90% cast speed.

I agree, as long as legacy exists. Then you cannot effectively balance the game entirely. It's more like putting a band-aid on a open wound.

No, you cannot balance the legacy leagues entirely. The challenge leagues avoid this problem. This is why new players are defaulted to them. If you want the balanced and up-to-date PoE, it's available. If you want to keep your accrued wealth, so do the players that have legacy items. You can't have it both ways.

Might be a nerf patch as most say, but much needed nerfs, or do all anyone care about is being OP?

Um.. that's the point of playing games.

That is to say, progression:

Begin playing / start character - shit's hard.
Level, acquire items, learn, hone your skills and strategy - shit's still hard.
Realize your build is untenable - restart.
New character - shit's hard but not too much. Potential plateau. Eventually start anew.
Repeat until you hit an actual good build - shit's not faceroll, but you have, in essence, become a badass.

Point is, games aren't fun unless you eventually glean a sense of becoming better culminating in a badass.

Here is the general problem with nerf:

After thousands of players play millions of hours, some builds arise as very good (what, a total of 30-50 builds?) out of a couple thousand attempted (so ~1-3% return). The rare successes become established in the community.

Most players default to these "safe" builds.

This is restrictive, as only two handfuls of builds are competitive.

Now there are three general courses of action:

1) Nerf the "safe" builds. In theory, fine. In application, not all the "safe" builds are nerfed. Thus, the number of safe builds dwindles to, say, 15-25. Sure, the half that got nerfed is now more comparable to the rest of the pool of builds, but now the "safe" pool is even smaller, and thus to be competitive/viable, you must follow a narrowed selection of paths.

2) Buff the rest: raise the dregs of the game to a more viable status. Now, the 30-50 safe builds have COMPETITION. Sure, players can remain safe with their old friend safe-build. But now the adventurous gamers are going to experiment, and the new will rival the old. Now, the TENABLE/VIABLE/COMPETITIVE pool of builds enlarges. The game grows. Shit gets fun.

3) Introduce a ton of shit that invalidates all previous items/skills/builds. Now everybody scrambles to figure shit out. Overhaul. The established hierarchies are inverted, etc. This is pretty variable in how fun the outcome is.

My point is I feel they are restricting the diversity for the most part.

My final point:

I just want to check, if only one leech can occur at a time (the largest one), does that mean AoE skills with leech are useless? Like, say you hit for 10k per mob, on a total of 10 mobs. You have 2% leech from passives, and 8% from LL gem. Which of the following occurs:

1) 8% of hp from the total 100k dmg done
2) 8% of hp from the 10k dmg done
3) 10% of hp from the 10k dmg done
4) Other

Any good uniques left now?

All of the uniques they just nerfed are still good.

I mean come on. BoR still has a lot of health on it, and you basically get a 7 link of it.

It's not as good, meaning it's not OP now, but it's still a fantastic unique.

Aegis Aurora is still fine, you just need high(er) armor. Nothing wrong with that.

Well lvl 12 faster attacks no quality 36% attack speed lvl 20 faster attack speed 20% quality 54% attack speed. That's a huge difference.

Everyone and their mother could get a BoR, it's just a medium rarity unique. Very few people have well rolled 6 links. If you think it's good design to have a semirare item that favorably compares with extremely rare items, well...

Well deserved nerf.
so many new legacy items
did some d3 devs join your team to shit on your game and make it ready to be forgotten?

starting to regret spending so much money on this =-D

I tried to read the discussion here, but so much crying, so much crying . . .
Sometimes you get the bull, sometimes the bull gets you . . .
All the Legacy and Permanent League QQ'ing...
Or the "make a different Parent League" QQ, do they not realize that that League would have Legacies as well, once the 4-monthers end, because of the 4-month only Uniques?!

You can't make a new Parent League every time a 4-monther ends, that defeats the ENTIRE purpose of the 4-month Leagues. Which are created SPECIFICALLY for the people who care about Legacy items not existing, and the economy being less corrupted...

JUST PLAY ON THE 4-MONTH LEAGUES. /enddiscussion

GGG,

I really do love your game by the way. So take this comment with that in mind.

For the love of god, fix the desync issues if its at all possible. Really that's the one major flaw in this game that kills more builds and characters than any single other issue.

I won't even consider a hardcore league because of the desync problems. I applaud the brave souls who are willing to expose themselves to that most fickle of mistresses. There is nothing more annoying than shutting down a build idea simply because "I will desync like a senior citizen trying to get Obamacare"
--------------------------------------------------

How about less whining about it and more working on it on your end like using Autohotkey?

Seriously, demanding a game company to fix something that cannot be fixed easily or it would have been fixed a long time ago is no way to conduct yourself.

Fanbois like you are what's wrong with games today. Desync is a huge and inexcusable issue, apologizing for shitty collision/netcode is more pathetic than the code itself.

Nah, desync is only a huge issue for shit players.

The rest of us get by just fine, because we actually understand how to adapt to video games, instead of whining until they're toned down for our miniscule level of skill.

You talk of skill as if desync was a mechanic to you, really i just can't understand people that defend it. Just accept it, say it out loud if you have to, you can't make a squish build with no defense and ton of life untill desync is fixed.

Very nice can't wait but I can still see a majority of the builds using Iron Reflexes, Resolute Technique and the Blood Magic Gem.

yeah- it disappoints me to no end that a accuracy/crit based mara is completely impractical.

reaching all the crit/accuracy nodes you would need would leave you with a squishy mara.

too bad. i hope to be able to do it one day.

2H mace with crit ! you can dream...

It would be dumb if every class could do every kind of build.
