I had a question about Smoke Mine....
Does it work against Resolute Technique, or Hits Cannot Be Evaded?? Thanks in advance!! |

No. Always/never(cannot) override any other modifiers, thus Blind (50% less Chance to Hit) has no effect against RT users (Always Hit).

OF COURSE Triple G made it useless for anything that it might help with.... This is frustrating since in the last few patches they have been giving RT to almost ALL rare mobs, and exiles, as well as to VAGAN, who is becoming increasingly HARD to fight, and I was hoping to limit this a bit, but alas, Grind Gear seeks out anything in the game that might be helpful, and places restrictions on it that completely ruin it. Meh.... Thanks for the answer though, as if I didn't know that already!! |

Wut? ResTech is not part of the Rare monster pool, and I don't recall reading about Exiles gaining RT anywhere either; according to the Wiki there's only two. Smoke Mine (Blind in general) works against any Attacker Rare, and most Attacker Exiles.

Skill is pretty useful for opening strongboxes with ranged character.
You can place a mine, that will be in LOS reliably, and will escape all the AOE effects, such as explosion and lightning storm, as well as avoid being boxed in by the spawn. One problem I encountered (not sure if it's a bug, it probably is though): When I open a strongbox and detonate smoke mine immediately (meaning not waiting for the monsters to show up) sometimes weird stuff happens with spawn. One time no monsters spawned at all and the strongbox just opened. The other time strongbox had "3 rare monsters" mod, but only white chaff spawned (strongbox opened normally after killing the chaff). All in all nice skill that requires some planning which is fine, in my opinion. |

After playing around with this skill i can't figure how i'd ever use it over Whirling Blade, as a melee Shadow anyway.
Its main use is to be an escape, good ones are usable on the fly, the situations where you can "setup" for an emergency are rare, namely mostly to deal with boxes and on bosses but for the rest you're better off getting out of the way with WB. Dropping it to my feets and just triggering it is clunky at best. I think it should be reworked entirely without the concept of it being a trap. I'd rename it Smokebomb, keep the blind and speed boost effects but remove the trap requirement and give it a 10-15 seconds CD. Just my 2c. |

Smoke mine aka Smoke Cloud
I would love to see Smoke Cloud created by smoke mine and from Stibnite Flask would also gice flat 30% chance to miss all projectiles (or 50% hit chance lowered for all ranged attack analogic to Blind ability ) when you stay inside it that would make it more fun usefull and more Real . Becasue skill working only for melee and againts mobs staying near you inside cloud .... would be nice to see if you can cover with it againts ranged attack in someway... I'm really enjoying this skill as an escape skill when things get hairy.
However there are two (recently changed?) this which make it bad to use in many situations. 1) The mine gets destroyed if you walk to far from it. Meaning if you always want an escape available, you need to keep placing it all the time: not just every 20s or so when it runs out. This means you often end up placing it just before engaging with the monsters. Which is fine except for: 2) Perandus mobs always have someone doing AoE skills, and they run really fast. So you can't place this once you see some Perandus mobs, since it will just die. It would be great if either the mine stayed alive at a distance, or, if there was a support gem for it that made it invulnerable (like the passive skill), or even an enchantment for it, that would make it less bad. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Here -increase area of effect 0% from lvl1 up to 40% from lvl20 -increased Movement Speed 20% from lvl1 up to 40% from lvl20 |
