The weirdest part of the party play debate to me is that everyone seems to be ignoring how fundamentally awful group play is in PoE2, and how GGG doesn't seem to be addressing the core issues there. I tried playing with a friend this season, but we quickly gave up on grouping because of the utterly atrocious visual spam. It's just not fun.
You can barely see what's happening in the game with one player let alone two or six, unless you purposely decide not to utilize the majority of the game's skills, or if you limit how many people are attacking, or if you head in different directions on the maps, effectively playing solo... (and if you are even faced with these choices it's a shit game sorry).
Grouping with randos in other games is usually fun, but not in this one. You have to just trust they'll honor whatever loot arrangements, or not blow up your temple at least in 0.4 or engage in otherwise antisocial behavior that you're just going to see from a certain % of players.
This is basically a one player game, and it's not even balanced for one player. Group play/fun seems like a relatively low priority which is a shame.

You no longer get offered Ritual Altar rewards after defeating the King in the Mists in Act 1 Freythorn.
Honestly I don't understand this, it couldn't be that op to get 1 low level unique early and it would've made the campaign a bit more fun and maybe also offer the choice of switching to another build easier if given the chance.
Agree. I was hyped about act 1 leveling uniques in ritual and here we are, getting punch in the balls for no reason at all.

This is true. Group campaign is boring, too. The only reason to play group in previous patches was because it was so lucrative, but it was never as enjoyable as single player, which is just a shame.
It sounds like it also became a botting issue, so they nerfed it entirely (IMO the right call). I hope they can address group play going into 1.0 because that adds so much to an ARPG.

Party gameplay definitely should be rewarding and difficulty should be corresponding. But now it's broken because actual builds can oneshot pinacles solo with 6 players party. So if your build can kill solo, you have to get same reward as you were solo.
GGG should nerf builds or increase difficulty because in the current setup it's unfair to solo players.

So, you yourself say that team play was boring; the whole point was just about the loot. So, it was right that it got nerf, because it didn't contribute to team play at all, only to greed.
