Content Update 0.5.0 — Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients

Yo, if they will allow to convert a rune socket into jewel socket ON EACH piece of gear you currently equipped it's gonna be OMEGA BUSTED tech lmao
Yeah I saw it says limit to 1 but there is already such runes in the game that just restricts putting the same type of rune on the same piece of gear (they made that restriction in 0.4)

Pretty sure it is going to be only gloves, since the rune says "Gloves: destroy all augment sockets to create a jewel socket". Other new runes have also specific item slot or "All equipment".
Are you not entertained?! Is this not why you are here?!
Everything nerfed but twisters xd

I've never really paid attention to this before, so I have to ask.

When can we expect the final patch notes? And have there ever been last-minute changes right before a season?
You rrreeeaaalllly had to bring up swords again with this crowd? Here comes another 5 pages of griping about that, LOL

If I remember correctly, patch notes have been updated right up until a few hrs before the update drops.

The weirdest part of this debate is seeing people advocate against cooperative play in a game literally designed around online interaction, parties, trading, guilds, and a shared economy. If someone wants to play solo, that option already exists. But removing enjoyable group functionality because some people dislike parties creates an anti-fun environment for everyone else.

And honestly, why do some people care so much about how others play? Party play existed from 0.1 through 0.4 and it was never the reason a league failed. The most recent league had far bigger issues with the Temple mechanic than groups farming together.

“You don’t want to play with friends, you only care about loot.”

Loot is literally part of the gameplay loop. Of course people care about loot. This is an ARPG built around progression, item drops, crafting, and farming strategies. Wanting group play to feel rewarding does not somehow invalidate the social aspect of playing with friends.

“You’re an RMTer abusing bugs and exploits.”

No — some players simply have thousands of hours invested into learning strategies, optimizing builds, and understanding the economy. Gravebind Cuffs were not some game-breaking exploit; they were a unique item that actually incentivized cooperative gameplay in a system where 6-man groups already have to split profits and drops between multiple people just to make it worthwhile.

Ultimately, I just want to play with friends and make currency at the same time, what is wrong with that? I guess I will just look forward to making more mirrors playing solo this league.

100000000000% This, I have not seen one person advocating against party play, that has any legitimate feedback. A lot of what looks like jealousy, or some weird delusion that nerfing party play will combat the RMTers that have existed in every online aRPG since OG Bnet days.

No one would care if there were an abundance of support options to play, like there is in poe1.

A lot of us who party play now, have thousands and thousands of hours playing solo and do just fine if not better economically than when we party play. But games were made to be played with friends.

GGG please address this a different way, or give us some explanation on philosophy here.

Is team play fun because you have fun with others or because of the extra loot?

If it is fun, then extra loot is not required. If it is the loot then you don't actually like the team play you just like the extra loot.
Well, time to sum up this patch:

1. Crafting is basically gone from the game now. Before, we at least had some form of crafting that allowed “overpowered” mods, but it still felt like actual crafting. Now they completely killed it. We basically went back to patch 0.2, except somehow even worse, because now recombinators are gone too. Another brilliant decision. Instead of providing alternatives, or at least allowing 2 crafted essence mods, they just removed an entire layer of gameplay. Crafting is now nothing more than random exalt slamming and gambling again.

This will affect balance horribly. Overpowered builds will become even stronger, while barely functioning skills will become even more dead because they won’t even have decent tools to work with. And yes, decent, not broken. Anyone claiming those items were “overpowered” is probably a newbie who has never even seen actual mirror tier crafted items before. I genuinely recommend those people look up how real mirror items are crafted and compare them to the scraps we were making before this patch. Enjoy exalt slamming and buying 8+ divine omens just to reroll the life on kill mod that for some reason is still in the game only to bloat the mod pool and make crafting more annoying. Another artificial obstacle.

This will also destroy the value of essences themselves. That’s one more farming strategy removed from the game. Essences will become worthless within 2 or 3 days.

2. Bows get buffed again, melee gets nerfed again. At this point it’s just a meme. Seems like it has become a tradition for the developers.

3. Once again, no optimization improvements, no fixes for broken rare mob modifiers, mobs bugging out, standing AFK in invulnerability, and all the other nonsense still in the game.

4. The entire community has been begging for fixes to broken interactions. People are making full videos showing completely busted builds. Everyone is asking for nerfs, but instead of fixing the build that will completely destroy the league economy (Twister), the developers keep killing melee builds instead. In every interview and podcast they talk endlessly about wanting slower gameplay, yet they refuse to fix a build that can reach and farm T15 maps in 4 to 5 hours while half naked and without a weapon.

5. “Party play nerfs.”

Do the people cheering for party play nerfs actually think anything changed? Carries will still stack 200 to 300 rarity exactly like before, because after that point the efficiency already drops off hard anyway. The only thing these nerfs accomplish is killing builds that were already played by maybe 2% of the playerbase.

The developers are intentionally making party play worse by making the entire game feel worse overall. Clunky interactions, inconvenience everywhere, and the destruction of interesting build variations that people actually wanted to try with friends.

Good luck to everyone at league start.
