[0.5 endgame] What about slow builds and meaningful combat?
" im pretty sure that with the amount of crying u do everyday in these forums not even no rest 1.0 will save us from you here. but i guess you could switch to no rest forums to cry there about the game "issues" LMAO |

" surely poe will survive another 15 years without diablo or no rest gamers just like it did before. dont you worry! |
|
" Of course it will, diablo series survived too, including D4.. but that doesn't mean anything, does it? After all, PoE1 crowd were the ones to shit the most on it. Even though there's really not that much of a difference between the two. Sure, PoE is more complex in the character building aspect, but most of you follow build guides and don't engage with that in the slightest... so you're pretty much getting the same experience. You just get to roleplay as if you do, which is rather pathetic if you ask me. "Sigh" Last edited by IonSugeRau1#1069 on May 13, 2026, 1:31:08 AM

I feel pritty sure of that you will have plenty of options to have a slower playstyle that will still work out in the end.
But for the showcases, they need to show more "zoomy" playstyle, more "flashy" with whats possible wih our new toys. Flashy will always give more interest then very slow methodicle gameplay showcases. I enjoy slower gameplay myself, and most of my characters are/have been slower. Every league its "Where is out slow gameplay", and i think to myself with my slowely moving forward behind, dont we already have the option? But is it maybe more about that, the zoomy endgame builds you see creators / devs showcase , dosent have the same type but super slow? Like PoE 1 has Crushing Fist that i tested this time, its very slow, but clears great in one slow hit to compensate. Is it more about that players want to have the same power in the end, even if they play super slow, or fast? I am just tryring to understand more exacly what the problem is really. Cause i feel im always playing slow stuff, so for me, i dont understand the "Why is everything only so fast?" Cant have to much Junk in your Stash

What a time to be alive when people are calling GGG's showcase builds zoomy.
What has been shown in those snippets is but a fraction of what is already possible in this game, and has been - albeit slightly harder to accomplish - since patch 0.1. That is why I'm baffled by all the pikachu faces popping up with each subsequent announcement, when it is beyond obvious what direction they want to take this sequel, and you have to be living in some alternate reality in order to be able to convince yourself that poe2 has ever had meaningful combat in the endgame. |

" I don’t necessarily agree they need to only show zoom play styles. If they only have to showcase 1 play style then it would defeat the purpose of the whole event. Besides, non-spammy play styles can be equally if not flashier than what they showed. The truth is, they couldve spent 5-10 seconds to call out and make sure there’s at least 1 or 2 examples of non-spammy builds during the endgame. I think that was either a massive miss on their part, or it was done on purpose. Either way, people are rightfully confused to say the least. We were expecting some clear examples as to how it’s possible to spec our Atlas tree or other design changes to tablet mods so we don’t have to always spec into clear speed. I don’t think we got any of that. In the end of the day, people that are not impressed or care about clear speed and exploding screens did not care about the spam or evident lack of visual clarity shown by GGG, and you can tell by looking at the ongoing discussions here and other platforms. |

" I do agree a simple short segment: "Jonathan: And for the once who might enjoy a more calm playstyle, how about the Molten Giant Rock Warrior build! And embrase your inner retierd Hulk! As you slowely but devestatingly stomp your enemys to pebbles! And trow them around!" To appease both sides would prolyl go a long way to just show "yes it is perfectly possible, doable and viable later on to play slow builds". To maybe not feel so forced to play the latest speed clearing builds. And sorry, it was a bit badly worded before i think, i dont think they should only have the focus be on more speedy and screenclearing builds that are being showcases. I just think they focus on them more to drum up more hype then they would by showcasing slower builds. Cant have to much Junk in your Stash

Want a meaningful combat? Use only white items. That's all.

" Absolutely. That’s a big part of what many people are saying and I suppose also felt after watching the whole thing. And, it was a very lengthy stream as well. Many opportunities for Jonathan to say something like the example you mentioned. It felt like watching a spectacle that wasn’t really for me. And I think that’s partly what got some people having these initial visceral responses. I bet they felt not included in the fun, and that sucks. What makes matters worse is this redesign was so long in the making and if they designed everything with clear speed in mind then it probably means the ship has sailed on anything other than spam builds, clear speed, exploding screens, and the dreaded visual vomit. At least for the endgame, for now. |

Honestly ATP in time, Forget the slow combat, and expect them to buff all the "slow" abilities / attacks, their already embracing grenades with the new weapon type, just pray they balance other classes equally
