Please.... Stop listening to streamers.

Yeah I didn't hear the person I watched outright call for its removal but other videos in my feed after watching that video were.

Kripparian is highly intelligent, he would never ask for such a thing.

If some random watcher are asking for that, im not surprised at all when we see the kind of reccuring illogical threads posted on the forums.

Right, that was the other component of my OP. Streamers say a thing or talk about a topic and the subscribers make demands based on a 15 minute video.
There could be many reasons to this from taking a streamers word as gospel to just being generally bad at the game and needing an excuse as to why they're bad.
it is not GGG listening to streamers, it is viewers taking things out of context and then going on a feedback riot when they barely even understand the issue.

Kripparian's viewers for example, they all take this SSF specific rarity problem, they magically equate it to trade and say things like "delete rarity because it gives me FOMO"

Empyrian's viewers see a bunch of div drop in 6 man party, don't think about how they are splitting it, don't think about how hard it is to set up, don't think about they have made these games their life, then they come here and say "quantity party farming, OP ruining the economy"

the Chinese whispers turn specific problems into blanket idealism that a bunch of players who don't know better can easily latch onto, and then GGG ends up with no choice but to try and fix a feeling overall, instead of really digging into how things work and making the changes they would want to play with.
They should just make currency not based on rarity like it is in POE that would fix currency rarity issues. since not all classes can get 100+ rarity without sacrificing resists and defenses and other things. that or remove resist penalty at end game make it 0% instead of negative number. either would fix it for most classes getting to 150 rarity.

fixing the imaginary problem for trade fantastic, I am sure the people complaining now will not figure out that t0s and locks, mirrors etc also all drop more often with rarity, and they will definitely not keep complaining until it is removed

an observed problem with no map/ precursor effect at the 100-150% rarity mark is just that. I dunno if it's even real to say SSF can't get any map effect or if krip just has some philosophical problem with the design.

somebody did a much bigger sample size test in 0.1 and found that 70-80% was the most effective, they only measured currency...

so where is the problem? we don't know, and GGG probably knows better than us since they have the numbers.
I remember the day I chose to boycott Blizzard. Shortly after the incident Kripp released a video talking about how Diablo Immortal wouldn't be that bad.

Not saying he isn't intelligent. Not saying he is being a shill in this video. But he lost a lot of confidence from people that day, including myself.
The whole point of IIR was for you to have an item set for farming and another for razing through quests with max dps. Current day streamers and players seem to be unable to crasp the idea of having more items than the items you are wearing rn.

So one big problem facing the rhetoric with this game from streamers and the community in general is the idea that any single individual can perform any kind of meaningful data analysis on these mechanics.

Like what is a "much bigger sample size" in this context? In order to claim that "70-80% is most effective" this person would have needed a very large volume of maps run within that range, then another similar number run at ~60% or less to show that it's statistically less effective, and an equally substantial number run with ~100% or more to show that it has no noticeable improvement over the 70-80% range and ideally a relatively large volume run with 0% to establish a baseline and like it just didn't happen.

Like unless this person ran 4-5k maps and meticulously tracked the outcomes from every single run then you're just dealing with someone who is speculating slightly less wildly than the average player.

People just vastly underestimate the number of maps you need to run before you can reasonably assume any outcome is reflective of the underlying probabilities and not just that individuals' personal random outcomes.

Wait, streamers are asking for the cap to be removed or for IIR as a mechanic to be removed?

the cap is only on gear, they are asking for IIR on gear to be removed

After passing on YT, the discussion of content creators is based on a video from Dreamcore posted 3 days ago. "Item rarity problem is ruining buildcraft"

The people i watched agree with him and think that IIR shouldnt affect currencies but should still be there for the purpose of chasing very rare unique items or high tier rares. They are not saying it should be removed.

They think that it shouldnt be mandatory and be a choice because it lead to push people choosing META build that can afford removing resistances or other stats from them gear and that isnt possible for everyone. Why they think it shouldnt affect currencies because without currencies your build choice become even smaller.

I eard exemple of POE1 having builds with a lot of rarity made for unique items chase and they think that's typically fine for exemple.

This is what i understood watching some videos anyway. I may be wrong, there may be other content creator with a different opinion.

I do not have myself an opinion on it because i never really cared for IIR.
Was just curious after reading this post so i checked.
