" The amount of players not having the mental faculties to understand poe2 is in early access with the majority of the *base* game not even playable yet, not to mention every new mechanic to be added every content update /league is mind blowing. Like yea dude, no shit lol |

" I was "stubborn" enough to try it, all the way up to T15+ Waystones and even did some bossing to level out my atlas trees. Sure, it has "outdone" PoE 1 when it comes to numbers, but is currently "miles" away from being a better game. Will it be a better game? Arguably, but GGG should absolutely keep supporting PoE 1 until PoE 2 is a better and more complete game, which may take years. No one is asking them to "go back", which would be stupid. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" My dude that's an absolute lie. Have you been gone from these forums / reddit ect for the last couple months? There's been plenty of players yelling at GGG that they shouldn't continue with poe2 and just focus on poe1. Anyway my point is that it doesn't make logical sense to keep throwing money and dev time at poe1, when you could expedite poe2 considering its gigantic success. PoE2 has already paid for its entire development and beyond, and it's in freakin' early access with a fraction of just the planned base content available. |

" usually i jump into leagues for 2 reasons, the first is to bring some power/wealth to standard, the second is if the mtx rewards seem worth my time. yeah i have 2 40/40s but i ll admit usually they're bought or carried. usually if i m deep into a league and hit 36/40 i might as well push to 40/40. but i really would prefer if i could just use my existing gear/characters. " Of curse it makes sense? I don't know about you, but not all players are willing to play half-finished games and be GGG's testers. Some players want a complete experience, and while PoE 2 is many things, it is not a "complete experience". PoE 1 is still a popular game where the last league saw record numbers, and I don't think I would become broke if I bet my money on 3.26 being just as - or more - popular. Both games in the top 20 Steam games? Supporting both games is the right decision. That's what say said they would do, and that is what they should do. But it should've have been done in a more professional way, with proper teams working on the two games. There's no excuse for having "no senior developers" available for PoE 1 when they've been working on PoE 2 for 6+ years, promised support for two games and KNEW this situation would happen. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I'm waiting to see how this bs storm pans out, but it doesn't look good by any margin for PoE1 players. New league and timelines for subsequent ones will prove if they were lying through their teeth (again).
It doesn't help that PoE2 took all the worst aspects of PoE1 and made them worse, so i'm not gonna waste my time there. |

" I've written this out a couple times but I guess I didn't in what you replied to. My point is, poe1 and 2 SHARE mtx, the thing that makes GGG money. A giant amount of players who play poe1 are also going to play PoE2. When the vast majority of players in general play PoE2, they buy mtx there. Why then use dev time for PoE1 when most of the players hopping on to play a new league in poe1 have already bought whatever new mtx they were going to buy in PoE2. It just doesn't make financial sense. They can't even release poe1 uinque mtx unless they change their stance on mtx being cross game. In the end I don't stay up at night caring, they're doing extremely well with PoE2 and that's all that I do care about in this regard. I'm just stating why I think it doesn't make sense to *essentially* continue funding a free game that they'll make very little off of, aside from switching to maintenance mode in poe1. Which if I had to bet that'll be the plan up to and for a bit after poe2's release. |
|
" And this is where I think you're completely wrong. I still think there's enough players that will continue playing and spending, players that won't play and spend in PoE 2. MTX being cross platform has nothing to do with it when they aren't spending in PoE 2. And I don't even think they've said a word about future MTX being cross platform, only MTXes already bought, as a "band-aid" for separating the two games. Correct me if I'm wrong here, I might be. Of course, this requires GGG to support the damn game. Few people are going to spend if the future is as unsure as GGG is making it. But if 3.26 pulls in 200-300k on Steam, I see no reason for PoE 1 to not be profitable enough to warrant continue support. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
