Be honest: Is PoE 1 "dead?"

well it sure seems like it is.

I think there is a secret rule among successful game developers that a good live service game can't last more than 10 years.

All of the games that I liked are gone now

POE1- GGG killed it, going from 4 new leagues a year to maybe 1 if we are lucky.

Smite - devs killed around the 10 year mark and Smite 2 is DOA

World of tanks (console) - really bad now and it's been about 10 years

Yes, POE1 is supposed to be dead. Chris Wilson literally promised in an interview that their plan was to have POE1 in maintenance mode by 2024.

As for the deeper questions about Standard, I happen to like having a place where all my toys end up. I don't play every single league, far from it. If I don't like the look of a league mechanic, I'll play Standard.

I also don't do trade. It's a colossal pain, and, to be honest, at it's worst, it's also bought power. I'll take choice goodies from the Guild stash, if I need them, but otherwise, I'm essentially self-found (though not solo, as I usually play with my wife).

So, the "economy" doesn't affect me, and I suspect that a lot of what makes people scorn Standard is their fear of all those remove Only tabs which have been accumulating in their stashes for years. =^[.]^=

PoE1 is not dead.
Standard is boring (to me).
I am grinding away in Phrecia because I like the challenge of new characters and mechanics.

You can only decently trade when a league is active. Trade doesn't really work (subjective) for a lot of players when it comes to standard or after a few weeks when league becomes stale.

What is the point of being in TRADE LEAGUE when trade is absolute dead? you need currency to progress in TRADE LEAGUES.

That said.

Idols are a massive downgrade from the old watchstones therefore they are bad.

Sad state that this game has fallen into because ruthless2.0.
