Dear GGG..
OP - Agreed on most. I love ARPG campaign. After defeating D2 Hell, it's time to roll a new character: All good. The idea of maps / tiers at the end is of no interest to me. I'm not against it - have fun with that. I want a semi linear path with lots of monsters to slay. I'd prefer more Acts over map/tier thing.
My Cold Monk completed the campaign. The bell is hilarious. All other builds got stuck at some point. Right now, my Witch is unable to defeat the Viper Puta thing. I've reconfigured specs, tried 60% chaos res, tried maxing health with lower res, even tried evades... I died 12+ times so far. Every time the boss is at 30% health, the archers start firing off extra poison. Dodge roll - no luck. Instant death. Then I did ascendancy for some extra passive points. I despise trials - even easy low level ones are annoying - they are not campaign! High level trials for points are too hard. Seriously - Inching along being extra careful through the trial levels IS NOT FUN. Make it easier or change reward: Another ugly pet. As is, I will not do it. Getting to the Viper Puta was easy - maybe a challenge now and then - but not too hard. Meaning my build is just fine. There's probably some stupid little move you have to make at just the right time to avoid instant death -- FU! The real problem: Ass devs programming bosses with excessive damage. Too easy = not fun, Insta-death = not fun, Balance = fun. If POE2 were released like this, I would have ditched it already. Last edited by bledatrifle#1038 on Jan 31, 2025, 9:41:00 PM

" Hope everybody else stopped reading after this too. What a crazy thing to say, a game can be whatever the hell the person making the game wants it to be. No one is forcing you to engage with it weirdo. |

" When people bring up Diablo 4 as an argument that PoE2 is going downhill, then I know it's a lie (or lack of knowledge). Lets take a look: Diablo 4: Path of Exile 1: Path of Exile 2: Diablos 4 peak was 55k 4 month ago. That was the start of the 6th league on October. 55k players. And in January they released the 7th league, which had a peak of under 40k players. And after one month it's already at 24k players playing right now. Path of Exile 1 peak was 7 month ago when Settlers of Kelguur started. 229k players. Right now 8k players playing, but 3 month ago it was also at 40k. Path of Exile 2 peak was Dec. 2024 with 578k players and right now 119k players. If you look at the charts, a decline of players is very natural. Most players that play an ARPG come in, create their 1-3 characters, play as far as they can and then stop playing until the next season. The PoE2 chart curve shows a VERY slow decline compared to PoE1 and Diablo 4, meaning that many players kept playing PoE2 for quite a while. We already have players with several hundrerds of hours in this game and since nothing new is added, they naturaly stop playing until a big update comes. You just can't compare an Online A-RPG with an MMO. PoE is not an MMO. That's like saying any game that offers online with servers is an MMO. THe only player interaction that really happens quite often is trading. But other then that? Players play the game mostly singleplayer. And if they are through the game? They stop playing. So no, Diablo 4 has not a "broad appeal". It's quite underwhelming for a Diablo game, which is a bigger franchise then PoE2. |

" That is so glaringly misrepresentative, it's laughable, and should be embarrassing. I don't really care about D4 or PoE2 (anymore, have moved on and will kind of keep an eye out), but, yeah...this is like a fake news report. As if nobody plays D4 on any other platform except for steam. |
|
" lol.....as if the same isn't also true of PoE 1 and PoE 2...and probably even to the exact same degree, if not more skewed AWAY from steam in the case of PoE 1. Although that later point would be damn near impossible to prove outright. embarrassing to call out something for being fakenews and be so, so wrong. " I was curious to see if anyone wanted to go down that road. So, now you are comparing battle.net to GGGs client? You might want to take your own advice about thinking.... |
|
" Oh okay, so you were being....deliberately wrong? To what? Set a weird trap? Yes....they are exactly the same. Battle.net to D4 is EXACTLY AS INFLUENTIAL as the PoE standalone client is to PoE. Why in the world would you think otherwise? Starting anew....with PoE 2

" So, you are saying that GGG is the same size as Blizzard? I really can't believe this discussion is taking place... |
|
" Clearly you have no understanding of statistics in the slightest. The size doesn't matter.....the RATIO is what matters. The RATIO of PoE players who use the client vs steam is likely the SAME as the RATIO of those who play (especially) D4 through battle.net vs steam. There is absolutely zero reason to think this wouldn't be the case, regardless of "size". In fact, the newer the game, the MORE likely it is that steam harbors a greater percentage of the players than older titles simply because steam is the far more popular ubiquitous game client. It's the sole reason blizzard even started offering their games on steam, and the steam deck came into existence. This is actually even more especially true of Blizzard in recent years as their reputation both for games and socially has been put through the wringer. How many millions of keys did GGG sell for EA, and yet the highest peak players on steam is only a little under 600k? Even accounts with multiple keys wouldn't account for that mass discrepancy. There's also the fact that we have been told multiple times that "millions" play PoE 1....and yet the highest peak on steam is only a little over 200k. Again, even though these wouldn't be concurrent millions...it still shows just how skewed even PoE's numbers are toward the game client. Literally the only person that wouldn't know this just from sheer common knowledge or common sense....is someone with zero understanding of statistics. Which is clear from your previous posts.
