POE 2 loses it's identity/face on end-game
I really loved PoE 2, but endgame killed my interest, I don't want to play this shit anymore. One-button gameplay is so meaningless, I don't see me spending time doing something so dumb. And I want the game with interesting endgame, so I should look for something else.

We should have known as soon as we saw cast-on in the game.
There is no place for automation to lead except one button builds that cast everything for you. The POE2 campaign is genius. The QoL is genius. The skill balance and combos need some work but they have promise. However, the mindless one-button zoom zoom gameplay (with the occasional unknown cause-insta-death) is boring as hell. I keep seeing statements like "anything more complicated than one button mindless gameplay will get tiring in the endgame".... To me this sounds like absolute nonsense. What is your second favorite game? Candy Crush? Some of the most popular (and profitable) games in the world are intense all/most of the time, that is why they are popular. That is why the POE2 campaign is more popular than POE1 ever was. The stats say that the actually engaging games beat POE1 revenue by 10x+. My personal favorite is League of Legends, of which i've played 7000 hours in 8 years, about 14x more than I played POE1. My other most played games are little games like SC2, PUBG, WoW. I played D3 and D4 and Warframe as well, though not nearly as much as those other games, beecause D3, D4, Warframe, POE1, (and now POE2) just become too mindlessly easy and boring too fast. Sadly POE2 is well on it's way to being another POE1 in the endgame. They really need to just remove all cast-on meta gems, and *then* figure out what to do with skills in the endgame. Then the millions of gamers who want to play an actual game with difficulty might enjoy sticking around and spending money, instead of just the slot-arm gamblers. So far this seems unlikely to happen, despite what they promised. Well, the upside is, POE2 is a better POE1. Soon it'll be Time for most of us to back to computer games with actual difficulty and challenge. Last edited by KuroSF#6521 on Jan 17, 2025, 5:34:29 AM

" Cast-on meta gems and a complete rework to minions. Anything that leads to braindead gameplay needs to be reworked really.... and there's a long list of things sadly. "Good luck on your naps Exile" Last edited by IonSugeRau1#1069 on Jan 17, 2025, 5:32:40 AM

" I feel like for the most PoE 1 players it is :) " Yeah, I hope we will see some really good game in the ARPG genre eventually! Ofc, we would want that PoE 2 would be such game, but well. |

" What's braindead about minions? You can't simply stay back and let them do your job. They die quickly even with 200%+ life and need to be supported with active casting. It also didn't delete bosses in seconds while have quite good clear speed. To me minions are in very good place at this moment (apart from they AI but hey, they are skeletons so). |

" The worst part about this is that there was clearly some intent in that direction. I will forever give the skill Perfect Strike on maces as an example. NO DEVELOPER would put a skill like that in the game if there wasn't that intent. NOBODY would be now on the forums talking about this if there was 0 intent in the game and if this was just a PoE1 graphical update. I certainly wouldn't be here. " Perhaps we're playing different games then. Last time I've played 2 weeks ago or so I was playing a Titan Reaver build. I was planning to support them with bonestorm but it quickly became clear to me that there's no point in that. They were just killing everything by themselves rather easily. (when they didn't get stuck into corridors and doors but that's a different topic) I didn't even feel the need to use an Offering either. And how could they not work like that? Their main issue is in the design itself. If you take away their auto-attacks, is there anything else they can do? No. Minions should be reworked in such a way where their basic attacks are only supportive for their active skills or yours in some form or another. Their active skills should be what makes minions do damage. And they should most certainly have more then 1 skill each. " Let me guess...you don't main Jungle in League of Legends. And your favorite/best SC2 race is Protoss. Trade is EZ mode. ;) | "TLDR: -1 Devs ohhh" (Lol.) | "I've played a lot of videogames. It's my primary recreational activity. Best games ever: Elden Ring and Diablo 4." ~Elon Musk, 2023 | "IQ 48" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

" Are we both talking about juiced t15 maps? Because yes, during campaign it was quite easy. But after I got to maps their survivability and damage output lowers significaly. |

" I think they changed direction because majority of PoE 1 players want PoE 1 gameplay, they don't need more complicated combat than 1-button. If GGG wouldn't be burdened with PoE 1 players, I'm sure PoE 2 could be an awesome game. Well, who knows what they will decide eventually, but let's say that my hope that they will make something different from PoE 1 is not that strong at this point. From their interview, I think they don't see much problem here. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Jan 17, 2025, 6:03:06 AM

Agreed, Unfortunately in the interview with Ghazzy and Darth the point which was raised by the community was missed by the Mark and Jonathan. The community doesn't want an easier end game it wants a more difficult and slower-paced one akin to the campaign.
