POE2 must really be in rough shape...

I enjoyed the campaign (mostly). Endgame though. Its not for me. In a game with way too many on death effects, too little visual clarity, too many one-shot mechanics, no movement skills and a terrible roll dodge...to lose the entire map after one death is...a weird choice.

Where is the loot? Power Fantasy? Currency for upgrades? Nothing about endgame feels rewarding. It just people that either a) buy their small upgrades from trade using the small mount of loot they have or b) no lifers farming 12 hours per day and then buying larger upgrades with the more currency they farmed.

The amount of new POE1 characters hitting me up for noob gear in trades speaks volumes.

Glad I decided to wait.

Yep it's some straight up bullshit. Most disrespectful game I've ever played. They waste more of my time re clearing mobs and doing tedious shit than an a damn mobile game. Quit in act 3 at the first trial. Left a negative steam review that won't change until they apologize and change this trash.

lol that's wild. you want the devs to personally apologize to you?

bro, i ain't the biggest GGG fan (see my signature), but good lord that's kind of overboard, not gonna lie lol

To me personally? Nah, to the entire player base. I think we (and by we I mean the multitudes of players that are pissed off over the trials.) deserve one as a whole for this brain dead terrible mechanic they tried to put out.

Player numbers remain very high because the majority of players are new and still in the campaign. Ironically if the game was non-frustrating the player numbers would be lower because everyone would be done with it already.

There's not a lot of depth to the game yet. I think they're gonna need a full year or more to cook this into a worthy sequel. It's certainly not anywhere close to something I would restart every 3 months. I wouldn't play this at all if it didn't have the new game smell.

Still at least a few players higher than poe1 closed beta was at 9 days after it landed. ;)

I did have kind of a Moment when I saw the PoE2 ad during TGA -- I remember being one of a whole 50 people online during the poe1 cb. More than once.

Pretty amazing to go from that to 500k+ concurrency considering how many games die well before they peak. I am used to being involved with aborted but inspired projects so to see one last this long is nuts to me.

Was hoping to see your take on 2 in my thread but I assumed the silence was implicit approval and engagement.

I will admit i haven't thought about div once since biting the bullet to see how 2 would run on the pro. The basic twin stick tactical gameplay mechanics of 2 hit with me and hit hard. Kind of impressed at the network performance too -- twice i have crashed and once we had a power surge and the game loaded *precisely* where it cut out. That's good.

Glad I don't have any mtxes to distract me either. 4 tabs because ps5. We will see how far they go before so-called optional mtxes become anything but. Other Exiles I know who managed to quit 1 tried 2 and got legit ptsd seeing all the premium specialised tabs. Poor buggers.

I have a legion of other things to do; once poe2 stops being f2p for me (beyond the unfortunate buy in price) I will gladly go back to any of them.

Homeymoon periods are fun and I think not enjoying them just because you know they won't last is a bit like not living because you know you're gonna die.

It's a really tough but compelling game from my truly casual, do it my own way at and at my own pace perspective. I like that.

I kinda feel like they've finally given me the game I wanted to support. Thank goodness they didn't stick to that disastrous Overwatch 1.5 model. Thank goodness.

Anyway yknow where to find me. :)

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild.

It's the most anti-player crapfest I've ever seen. It's like the developers got REAL full of themselves thinking they were onto something here and delivered one of the worst gaming experiences ever. It's going to fail if they don't change just about everything.

The Devs are onto something beautiful which is the next generation of ARPGs.

PoE 1 is for a very niche audience and PoE 2 hits a far broader gamer audience and has far more immersive combat.

The game is in early access, it has 1/3 of the classes so obviously things can be more finely polished and they will be when the game launches. However they don't need to change everything, in fact they don't need to change much at all.

PoE 2 is supposed to be very different than PoE 1 and fix many of the issues with that game. So far it has succeeded.

I am one to appreciate a high ceiling of difficulty, but I am basically bricked because I am stuck on a shoddy server. I have good internet yet I am constantly spiking making my 3rd ascendancy impossible, as well as destroying my map progression since one spike can end a map.
I hear others have the same problem and are resolving it with a VPN which I don't have.
But ya, these one shot mechanics too hard. If my minions weren't there to save my ass so much it would be even worse for me as-well. And like the previous poster mentioned - On death effect/explosions are very savage with these 'one attempt' game mechanics.

Visually it is about on-par with D4 and it has the soul that Diablo has been lacking. So overall I am enjoying it and I trust in GGG at the helm to improve the game into a epic masterpiece.

Neither does PoE1, go to TFT and check how many Bozos getting carried every single league to acquire their 3rd and 4th voidstone because they are unable to do it or farm for it. And we are talking trade league here, what is already the absolute bozo mode.
