Poison Gas Arrow Pathfinder
Eternal Youth = health flasks go to ES. I'm about to switch to CI as well once I get a few new rings.

" From normal poison application hits, but from using an ability that poisons, that doesn't seem true. If I add an infusion to the ability, the paper damage goes up and from testing, the damage also seems to go up. Same goes for Hand of Wisdom and Action. Unequipping it, and my Gas Arrow damage goes way down on paper and seemingly in practice. Maybe it's just the initial hit component from the Gas Arrow, but just checking the damage number on a boss, it goes up noticeably faster. The abilities seem to scale off all Attack Damage, not just Physical and Chaos. |

"I've aready tested this with infusion supports on bosses and the poison dmg does not increase. The tooltip that is displayed on the gas cloud is the pseudo-hit that applies the poison. That number includes elemental damage but the poison won't. Builds and Guides: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2198879 Last edited by SHEPUUURD#7714 on Jan 6, 2025, 11:20:51 AM

" Aw man! That explains it. Gonna switch back to my other bow when I get home. Most recent one has a BIG lightning roll on it and the DPS in the tooltip jumps over 1K when it’s equipped BUT it has felt almost the same as my previous bow and without the life / mana on QoL. I was just stoked cause I actually gamble/crafted a high DOS bow. |

" Well it was short lived, the damage was nice but nothing insane unfortunately. I'm still trying to find ways to scale the poison harder. I've given up fighting freeze, even with xesht +4, I was using charm but meh. I've adopted the strategy of just dont get frozen. Ghostwrithe still works with CI so got to balance out whether resisting all chaos damage is worth losing 900-1000 life. |

Huge fan of this build. Went through the comments, I had similar issues with the poison tooltip and deciding whether to go for the gem with +1 poison on enemy (+2 from ascendency) or not. Currently I'm keeping it, because it doesn't hurt. At the same time I was huge fan of Scattershot even with the -20% damage because it helps apply the poisons much faster.
I feel the build is harder to peak than most lighting/cold builds, because scale easier and cheaper (to my feeling, could be wrong). Still as a long time fan of Poison Arrow in PoE 1 this just felt right to me. I usually use the curse only on bosses and elites, going lazy with vine arrow on the side and fire wall for some specific cases to create explosions for big packs that actually increase clear speed. Great build, great info and desc, GG! |

can this build work with deadeye with the same tree ect. or would it be too big of a dps loss to be effective.

" Icebreaker is pretty mandatory for CI if you want to stop freeze. It is actually a very OP node but costly in passive points. The other option is to annoint it. It is very cheap to annoint. |

" I don't think that's correct, Gas Arrow tooltip DPS is completely irrelevant because it for example changes with attack speed and that does nothing for poison. The part that actually matters is main hand poison damage per second and that remains unchanged with or without elemental infusion: https://imgur.com/a/Pwhzb0t If elemental damage scaled poison damage from Gas Arrow that would completely defeat the purpose of Plaguefinger. You may have seen your damage on boss go up/down because poison damage has pretty large spread, like in my case it's anywhere between 12k and 25k. Better way to test is to get a bow with a lot of elemental damage and as little physical as possible. Then try hitting a boss with and without Plaguefinger and see how massive the DPS difference is. " 25% less hit and 75% more poison magnitude is just straight up 0.75*1.75 = 1.3125 = 31.25% more damage. No other support besides Concentrated Effect gives such damage multiplier. Initial hit doesn't matter because Gas Arrow doesn't actually hit. " The best would be to find a Megalomaniac with Icebreaker + something useful like Patient Barrier or Lasting Trauma. Unfortunately the Megalomaniac market isn't exactly big and it's hard to find a useful one. Last edited by Andrewhuzar#7683 on Jan 10, 2025, 5:48:48 PM

First of all, thanks OP for the hard work with this build. That got my PF up to 85+ on a breeze which I then decided to move over to Pconc. Oh man, that has been a love and hate relationship haha
My passive tree is still very similar to the original build here but I have been spending millions of coins trying out different stuff. I am currently at 92 (oh man how painful it is to level up) using a crit with es/ev build doing around 115k on the tooltip for pconc that just melts everything away, 5-6k ES, 72-78% EV. I wont stop moving on T18+ maps and just delete map bosses on max difficulty. Fairly expensive gear though, probably upwards of 50-100divs (ingenuity 77%, widowhail 270+, double 45% chaos damage on breach rings, quiver 50%/+2/10%atk spd, 6x15% quiver effect jewels (got those for 1-2 div each before the prices skyrocketed). The challenges are: - stun/freeze lock that I might sacrifice a bit of ES to try to solve that. So on top difficulty 10 breaches map, if I do one mistake and get stunned, that's it. - t6 pinnacle bosses with too much HP, I run out of flasks and then I have to survive moving around while get the flasks back with 0.25 (flask) + Warding Potions + Alchemist Boon (get about 1 flask/second). - gold to keep respeccing lol I also have been using ghost dance that sends my ES to 10-12k with Eternal Youth but as I am not investing a lot on flasks nodes, I nearly need to use all my life flasks for 1-5 recovery. I have been taking CI on and off all the time, still trying to judge if worth using or not. I have 37% res on chaos, and CI off means I have another 1k of life but I feel sometimes the reason to be one shot killed might have been chaos damage on that ~1k pool. Anyway, my build is not 100% original work but also not a full copy of anything around. I know it is pconc and not Poison Arrow but pretty sure it would work similarly if anyone is interested. |
