Poison Gas Arrow Pathfinder
I'll edit details into this post once I'm home but I wanna stress I'm taking absolutely nothing for safety. Until last night I had 85% evasion or so taking plenty of nodes for it. Now with the same build I have much less.

updating everything to be 100% accurate to what I'm working with currently.

" I dont get it. I have almost the same setup except 48% (7jewels total) ailments deal damege faster. My main hand poison damage is 1700 - 8100. You telling us that these jewels are so powerful? Last edited by Fodex#7084 on Jan 18, 2025, 3:38:34 PM

I've made some massive changes to try out surviving a bit, if I had more resources for a chest I'd be in even better shape but it's not that much of a struggle to get up to more than double the EHP I'd been working with. huge dps hit but it's worth it.
I'm adding the new tree/gear/etc to the same maxroll if anyone is curious. also, yes 'ailments deal damage faster', in my testing, rose dps dramatically more per point than any other stat on offer, which is why so many of my gems have them. I was doing the math on my build at a certain pointt (idk how true it is with stronger or weaker weapons, for example) but on my build at that time, 1% projectile damage was a bit weaker than 1% poison magnitude, but even that was weaker than 1% of ailments doing damage faster, enough that I'd rather have 7% ailments do damage faster than 15% poison magnitude. but this sort of messes with the idea of dps and how poison works, because doing damage faster also lessens the length of the poisoning unless you take other nodes to make up for it. this can matter a lot for bosses. but for clearing they're dead before it matters.
Can you explain one thing?
The tooltip damage for "poison cloud" doesn't change with poison magnitude nodes - in tooltip poison magnitude only affects poison damage from arrow itself but not the cloud. So... How does it work exactly? |

Is there anything better than Heavy ammunition (40% projectile dmg) to anoint a neck if you are after poison cloud damage?
I tried Battle Fever because path of building said it would do more poison damage but it ended up being less poison cloud damage |

There's a node across from ranger that gives 30% magnitude. It might be worded as 'damaging ailment magnitude' or something.
There's also a node that gives 50% attack damage near the outer rim right next to aforementioned magnitude node. The 30% magnitude may or may not do more dps than the projectile/attack damage, as far as I can tell it depends on your gear (previously magnitude gave me more dps, now attack dmg does) but 50 attack damage will always be better than 40 projectile dmg since they affect it the same way as far as I can tell. I just switched from 30% magnitude to 50% attack, definitely a nice upgrade for me. I also had switched from the glass cannon approach mentioned earlier to one weighted to survive, and it worked but dropped my mhpd dps to 17k from 30k. But after almost a week of working on it and getting better defensive gear I'm back up to 25k but with 4500+ ehp before Grim feast. Energy shield is amazing. I still have jewels I can replace since as I said, attack/projectile/bow dmg is now worth more to me than poison/ailment magnitude, so I think I can crank it higher. Just gotta get back some resources first. Glad I stuck with one character through some struggles, I've learned a lot about how the game functions. Looking forward to druid but until then I'm probably staying on this character. Last edited by Vari#0223 on Jan 24, 2025, 2:21:00 PM

Look at the detailed info of the skill and look for 'main hand poison damage'. That's the number I'm always talking about and the number we care about for scaling poison.
There is a bug where it won't show up unless you have at least 1% increased chance to poison iirc, but it's worth grabbing a node to test your setup even if you undo it later imo.
" Can you link your new tree? My only guess as to how you have these numbers is to still be pretty squishy. I'm at 3800 ES, 1450 hp, 70% ev with acrobatics and sit at 30k with GA + conc effect, and that's with Lasting Trauma( 30% magnitude) annointed and a megalomaniac diamond that gives heavy ammunition + tough claw (65% attack dmg increase), on top of a 460 dps bow and using plaguefinger to convert tri elemental dmg on both rings. I also use fletchling to convert projectile speed to dmg, and my quiver has 45% projectile speed with quiver bonus turns to 90% dmg increase. I mean no offense, but there's no shot you are anywhere near me in damage, espec if you are not using plaguefingers on top of those defensives numbers. As a side note, Pathfinder is simply terrible and needs serious changes. It's absolutely ridiculous the resources I've spent on this character to try and make it worth playing and I get 30k dps to show for it with a million drawbacks. You're left with spending 100 divs to do a shattering conc build after the nerfs and that's it. If I weren't halfway to 98 and knew in advance this is what I'd get as an end result this character would've been shelved as soon as I hit maps. Meanwhile, my buddy holds down left click and deletes 3 screens with spark with an entire gearset not even worth what boots costed. Gemlings run amok with 20 builds all deleting screens and blinking all over, deadeye LAs, monks doing the same thing, etc. Last edited by suchacrisis#2704 on Jan 24, 2025, 4:08:28 PM
