GGG - Stand true to what you said about player feedback

Very much agree with most of it.

The difficulty is very good. The tempo is amazing. The impact of your hits is perfect.

Some smaller things might need to be carefully adjusted. But it can be handled by gathering enough data and then making small changes, rather that trying some big moves. The current state is way to good to be needing any large changes.

Absolutely agree with you. To the GGG feedback collectors -- Me and my guild are your target audience from D2 that you lost with PoE1.

Smallllll changes, especially to opportunity cost on the tree and the way some power spikes are handled go a long way.

Target audience that they lost?

What? Look at your supporter packs and playtime my guy. They didn't lose you at all, but they're about to lose a ton of people if they keep the game as un-fun during early mapping as it is currently. Ain't nobody looking to play semi-ruthless on every league start.

Don't speak for the rest of us. Personally, I love the slower grindy gameplay. So much so, I may play in "trade" league but only to help my buddies when they need help. SSF'ing it up, slowly plugging away. Some of us like the longer journey. I get more playtime out of a character this way.

Same. Hopefully GGG adds another game mode for us, I have no idea how they strike a middle ground between those of us who love the grind and the full immersive experience of the ARPG and those who just want it to be doomscrolling slot machine equivalent.
I wont go into detail, but i play melee character most of the time.

I quit POE 1 bc of the basic implementation of melee. The way it is programmed is just bad. Things like terrible accuracy options, no right-click drive, running to a empty spot and swinging at it, armour being the worst defensive option. They do too many stupid things to list and i said i'm not going into detail.

POE 2 has fixed some of those things, introduced much better moment to moment gameplay with melee, unfortunately it exists next to boom zoom builds. The A.I. heavily favors ranged classes, FFS just walk backward and fire and 90% of mobs can't hit you. From a programming perspective, this is a very bad sign. I'm hoping its not like that on their latest internal build.

Until they upload video of themselves playing the game w/o juiced up BIS developer only weapons, i don't beleive they playtested melee in Trials or endgame.

I never want to do Ascendancy Trials ever again on any character. I used to build and trade for equipping multiple character in ARPGS, but this one i dont think i'll make/equip more than one guy. Most ARPGs you can plan ahead and do well if you are not a dummy. This one is all luck, or just meta build to win.

I think Trial is in a fine spot for warrior, but overtuned white mobs in endgame maps are a bit much given the defensive options we presently have for warrior.

I actually think both monsters and ranged builds are what's overtuned in endgame maps, but mace warrior feels great. My favorite sanctum runner is actually my earthshatter titan, thats what I've been doing 4-floor carries for my guild alts on.

you can't be serious....
and i thought POE 2 would be different than the rest
Turns out it's just POE 1.5, a contralike shooter where you can't even tell the cause of your character death most of the time
I agree with a lot of what you say here, just a quick note but isn't it insane we don't deal with the frame rate drops of perandus, delirium, or betrayal anymore? As well as off screen aoe from breaches that ripped a lot of HC characters with invisible shocks or bubble beams? GGG really does take a lot of the knee jerk reaction of "this isn't good" seriously but players kind of don't give a crap about any of that for whatever reason it seems on the EA feedback forums.

The one overarching thing I disagree with is trials. Sanctum for example is basically lab 2.0. There are traps, there are uncontrollable modifiers that make bosses harder, and there are basically uber uber lab options through relics. Izaro had different weapons as well as his different mechanics every time you fought him. It's just reskinned lab to me with sanctum thought process that somehow feels worse to me to play. I absolutely dislike needing to do 3 unrewarding levels of it EVERY time just to get to the 4th floor where the only rewarding thing 9/10 is the boss and chests behind.

The relics need to be removed, I disliked heist tremendously because it's the most anti new player friendly mechanic in poe's history even harvest and synthesis were more fun to play around with IMO. Instead, in my own opinion of course, the relics that change the encounter and provide higher tier rewards should just be another trial coin of higher difficulty and the unique modifiers. I just think this would be new player friendly as farming relics to make your next run *maybe* the run where you can get your ascendancy. A new player is never going to have the income to buy the nice relics just for an ascendancy nor should they ever be incentivized to pay for a carry to not interact with a mechanic that is so crucial.

This is a direct result of the power and speed creep that is the only way GGG knows how to punish the power fantasy they feed players. Hopefully they stick to the vision and knock things down to a proper baseline. The campaign pacing and balance just feels so much better than the endgame.

I am serious. One of my favorite 4-floor sanctum runners is my earthshatter titan.
